Question about Whirlpool GR465LXLS Electric Kitchen Range
E1 F5 is an indication of a door latch failure. Attempt to unplug the appliance for 30 minutes to see if the error code will reset, first. If the error code persists, double check your door latch to make sure that is not obstructed or jammed, followed by an inspection of the latch motor and linkage. Your door latch has three main components: 1. The door latch, 2. the door latch rod (linkage), and 3. the door latch motor. You can view the assembly by lifting the stove top. Follow these steps to access:
1. UNPLUG the range.
2. Open the oven door and locate the screws under the bottom of the front edge of the cook top.
3. Remove the screws and the cook top will lift up.
4. If there are no supports to lock the top in the upright position, use something non-conductive to prop the cook top up.
5. Close the oven door.
The door latch mechanism, linkage rod and motor will be located on top of the oven cavity. Make sure the rod is still installed between the latch motor and latch mechanism. Sometimes the rod can come loose and cause the latch to fail to work. Carefully plug the unit back in and attempt to lock the oven door. Watch the drive motor and linkage for movement. If the motor is working, replace the door latch. If the drive motor fails to function, replace the motor.
Searspartsdirect.com has some excellent exploded view diagrams of your stove that you can use for reference. Just type in your model number. The door latch components are listed under the "Chassis Parts" heading as items 4, 5, and 6. Some other sites that I would recommend are appliancepartspros.com and repairclinic.com. These sites offer competitive pricing, so shop around for the best prices.
