Trying to add drives to an HP Elite desktop computer.

One sid eopens with thumb screw but it looks as though the rest of the case is rivited together. This would not allow adding anything without drilling out the rivits. Any one know if this is the only way to open the other side? This is new computer and I don't want to mess it up.

How do i remove my HDD from this computer? I want to transfer eveything to a bigger cae. any help plz?

To remove the hard drive from the computer, first open the case by removing one of the sides, it should be held in place by two screws on the back. I believe the har drive is mounted below the cd/floppy drives, locate it and unplug the data cable and power cable, being careful not to bend any pins on the drive itself. The drive is probably held in place by either a few screws or pressure clips. Either unscrew the screws holding it in, or release the pressure clips and slide the drive out of place. Voila.

How to remove the CD rom drive in a HP Pavalon slimline client?

See the panel on the side of the DVD Drive? remove that by lifting it backwards, it has a black button on top of it, remove it and now you have access to the screws on the side of the DVD drive, after unscrewing there's a button on the opposite side, push it sideways to unlock the drive and push the DVD drive out of the casing. Hope you figure it out.

How to get motherboard out of a hp pavilion 524w

On the outside, disconnect the power-cable, then the keyboard/mouse/video/audio/USB/printer cables.

Disconnect all the cables from the power-supply to the devices (disk, CD-ROM) and to the motherboard.

On the outside-back, remove the screws holding the power-supply in position, and then remove the power-supply.

Remove the screw holding each add-in card (audio, video, modem).
Remove each of the add-in card(s).

Remove the ribbon-cables from the motherboard to the diskette & disk-drive & CD-ROM.

Look for screws holding the motherboard to the case.
Remove those screws, and gently lift out the motherboard.

The side with the thumb screws is your side panel that allows access to the inside of your computer. On some computers only one side comes off. Hope this helps...

Cant Remove Optical Drive to add memory

At HP's web site, the instructions mention removing a screw on the side of the CD to remove it from the box. Try looking here. (If that link doesn't work, go to and in the search window, enter S3020n. Click on Help & Troubleshooting, then Setup and Install, then Adding & Removing Hardware. There's a link to replace the CD there. They also have PDF versions of the manuals.
