you should have a lever which controls this spray slid it all to one side then the other sometimes its just trial and error if this doesn't work then see if it has a cut of valve if so it may be broken

Water came out on the overflow pipe and kept running.

The releif valve will open if the water gets to hot to discharge hot water out or the relief valve is gone bad and needs to be replaced. the relief vlave protects the heater from high heat and build up of pressure from it over heating.

Overflow pipe flowing

Check temperature off the water for proper functioning thermostat. Look at set points on heater's thermostat. It's made to let water out when water get's to a certain high temp. More than likely it will be the pressure relief valve going bad and not holding.

T&P releif valve can be replaced on heater. Turn water off and remove with a pipe wrench. It will come out and any hardware store will carry it. T & P pressure relief valve is 3/4 threads.

When installing new one use teflon tape on threads.

Water heater keeping running

Check releif valve and make sure it is not running out of it. Sounds like the releif valve may be bad.

It's on the side of the water heater with a lever on it they are for safety reasons, they go bad from time to time. It may be piped through floor to a drain or outsude.

I have a propane hot water tank that in discharging the hot water out the relief valve (Champion energy saver series)

possible problems not knowing age of unit the
control valve could be sticking open allowing gas to continue to flow until high limit is reached and shuts down valve another possible problem with the newer style back flow preventer being install by water companys the rapid heating and expansion of the water over pressures the water system causing releif valve to pop open and reclose most water heater manufacters are recommending instalation of an expansion tank to allow the growth in volume of water somewhere to go is valve constantly leaking or only during heating cycle if you could supply additional information does unit only leak when heating
or is steam expelled when releif valve opens
t-stat not opening gas valve sticking partially open
bad high limit bad pressure releif valve no expansion tank to allow for thermal expansion if steam is present and unit is boiling water inside replacement of water heater for safety concerns, would be reccomended if only water and pops couple of times water temp not over 140 degrees after most hot water has been used out of tank and is reheating most of capacity probably lack of expansion tank as the releif valve is the final safety device on a water heater is of great concern
the temp control gas valve or high limit are supposed to shut unit done long before the safety limit of releif valve is reached

Unit sprays constantly.

Mine did the same thing. There is a valve that controls the spray that seems to work its way loose from its designated spot. This in turn depresses the actuator on the valve making it spray constantly. The valve is located where the upolstry cleaner cleaning solution port is. Disassemble the upright portion of the vacuum and make sure the valve gets pushed back into its place. I was able to use a ziptie to hold it securely after correcting its position. Use the two holes in the upright portion of the vacuum directly behind the valve to ziptie the valve in place securely.

Constant popping

THE POPPING SOUND IS PROBABLY COMING FROM A PRESSURE RELEIF VALVE ON THE HEAD OR INNERCOOLER. THIS TYPICALLY MEANS THE VALVES IN THE HEAD ARE BAD AND RARELY THIS VALVE IS BAD. DO NOT PLUG THIS PORT. YOU CAN TRY CHANGING THIS SAFETY VALVE-PAY ATTENTION TO THE PSI RATING ON THE SIDE. SINCE ITS A DAYTON IT CAME FROM GRAINGER AND YOU CAN GET PARTS FROM GRAINGERS 1-800 PARTS SERVICE. TRY TO FIND A 5 DIGIT PART # SOMEWHERE LIKE 5Y670, ETC. YOU CAN PROBABLY GET A VALVE REPAIR KIT OR THE ENTIRE VALVE PLATES. PAY ATTENTION WHEN DISASSEMBLING AND MARK DIRECTION OF PARTS. HOPE THIS HELPS, JODY
