Old Kenmore Dryer Stopped Blowing Heat

One day we had put a load of towels in the dryer and the next morning went to use them and they were still extremely wet. After running them again and still no success, I realized that it wasn't blowing any heat out. Any suggestions?

It's an old, electric dryer to clarify. Someone mentioned that the heating element is out or the limit switches are out. Are those hard to replace? Are those expensive to replace?

Whirlpool electric dryer LER5620KQ1. won't heat up timer does not advance

Same problem with my Whirlpool Dryer: Model LER4634EZ2 which stopped heating. I checked the coils that was "OK" then I checked the fuse that was "OK" I replaced the Thermal Fuse and High Limit Thermostat then after starting the dryer the heat came on ... problem solved NO.... the dryer just kept running and running until I opened the dryer door. Not going to put 70 or so $$$ into this 10 year old dryer which up until 12/15/2011 worked fine.

the heating element has overloaded and shorted out - new heat element is required along with a new timer switch .

I have a Kenmore dryer model # MC0329088 that is 10-11 years old that all of a sudden stopped blowing hot air

Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

Fuse blowing

Your exhaust vent is blocked.
Timed dry is High heat.
Permanent press is a medium heat and intermittent.
The dryer does not get as hot as often in Permanent press mode. Therefore the fuse does not reach critacal and blow.
Remove the vent at the rear of the dryer and run a timed load.
If it dries correctly, repair your vent blockage.
If not, repost and I will lead you to the next step.

Dryer won't Start

the problem might be the start switch itself. if the switch is going bad it could have either a carbon buildup on the contacs preventing it from starting (unlikely) or the contacs are wearing out and it is more hit or miss if it will start. as time goes on the problem will get wose

Not geting hot enough

The most common thing to cause this is a blocked vent. Start the dryer and go out to where the vent comes out of the house and see how hard it blows. If you feel little air out the vent, you will need to unhook the dryer from the vent and see how hard it blows there. If it is blowing good there you need to have the vent pipe cleaned. If dryer isn't blowing hard out the back, please reply back with the model number so I can give more detailed directions on checking the blower wheel and ducts.
