I had the same problem, it turned out to be the idler pulley, a 16-20 dollar part. I took about 10 minutes to change myself but an auto shop will do it for 100-120 dollars.

Squeaking belts can be too tight or too loose!
I've used a product called 'Belt Dressing' available at any Auto Parts Store to stop the squealing. Belt Dressing not only stops squealing but also reconditions old belts! Be careful as to not spray it on anything but the belt! Read the instructions completely before using any automotive product in a can!

I'd check the belts anyway or have them checked as squealing sometimes is a prelude to breaking!

Hope this has been helpful.

Good Luck!

No, The fan clutch will not make a Noise it will just not catch the Fan to Cool. It is the Belt. Make sure that it is Tight. You may have a Bad Belt Tensioner if it is not.

I have a 97 GMC Jimmy 4x4. When I press on the gas I've been hearing a sort of squeaking/squealing noise, but now it is a loud rattling coming from the passenger side and the car dies

Sounds as if you have had a bearing failing for so long it has now totally trashed. Have a helper start engine while you listen under hood to identify what has failed. Use a length of rubber hose with one end in ear if needed to pinpoint the source, being careful to avoid spinning parts.

Honda Accord 2001 EX, makes squealing noise when heater is on

Is the squealing coming from inside the car or under the hood? The A/C compressor runs when the defroster is on. If the belt is loose or worn, it will squeal. The blower is really the only moving part under the dash. If the noise is coming from there, you likely have a bad blower motor.

How do you stop this tapping sound coming from under the hood of my 06 Dodge Charger

Open the hood and allow the gremlin to escape. He only wants to return to his family.
NO GREMLIN? Open the hood, and utilize your ears to determine where the tapping is coming from. Do not place your ears next to anything hot, or near the cooling fans. Once you have pinpointed the source of the tapping noise, REPLACE THAT PART.

Pontiac g6 2006 heater/ac fan doesnt work on #3 speed setting, fan made squealing bearing noise for a while but quit, also inside/outsied air vent switch vent makes clicking noise when set to outside air

you will need to replace the blower motor as it has probably siezed going by the squealing noise you say you heard.i`m assuming this has more than 3 speeds for the fan motor.if it wasn`t working on one speed then you probably have a bad blower motor resistor that will need to be replaced as well so you will have all fan speeds.this is located in the air duct housing near the blower motor and will have about 6 wires on it.some of these on under the hood on the firewall anywhere from the passenger side to the center of the firewall.not sure about the vent switch.if the vent switch is moving the doors and you hear a clicking then you may have a vent door problem that the door pivot is worn.

1999 dodge durango 5.9 v8 loud squealing noise from under hood replaced tenison pulley, idler pulley, ac pulley/clutch assembley, and belt please help

You didn't mention the alternator, power steering pump, or water pump. In fact, any pulley other than the crankshaft one can have a bad bearing or dry seal. Remove the belt and spin each pulley while listening for any rough noise or squeal. If it was the crankshaft, it might be time to check the oil. Start the engine with the belt off to see if it does squeal. Make sure the noise isn't coming from the radiator fan(s).
