Question about ECS 945GZT-M (V1.0) Motherboard
I am planning to set 1 GB DDR2 667MHz ram on this board because I can’t find 533MHz in the place where I live. Does any one have try to set a faster ram than specification by manufactured and how the motherboard behaves? Does it going to break it or it will lower the speed of the ram to her optimum working level?
Sometimes motherboards have the option through BIOS to change bus speeds, but not the memory chips. Usually, the wrong speed will just not work. It won't fry anything, it will just give you long beeps and won't boot up. I've not put any onto a board like yours, but I did try 667MHz chips with one I had with the same memory specs (400/533MHz) as yours and they did not work. You might consider mail order. Newegg.com has pretty good prices. They are very reputable and have very good customer service.
