Can't use remote to open garage door

I just moved into a new home and I cannot use the remote to open the garage door. The opener on the wall works fine. I know that the battery works because the green light flashes, both on the remote and the unit when I press any of the three buttons. It looks like the model number is 53779. the FCC ID # is H?BW0709. The date on the back of the remote is 03/95

It sounds as though the remotes are not programmed. Check your main unit; does it have a learn button or are there dipswitches?

If your unit has a learn button, check to see if there are dipswitches in the remotes. Pop the battery cover off, and if they exist, there they'll be. If there, set them identically for each remote.

Then, press and hold the learn button;on the main opener unit. its LED light will light for approx 6 seconds. The memory is now cleared. Now, press and RELEASE the learn button. While the LED light is on (it will stay on for about 30 seconds) press the button on ONE of the remotes. This will program ALL remotes that have had their dipswitches set identically. Do not attempt to program each remote individually; doing so leaves programmed only the LAST remote you program -- the others will no longer work.

I had the same issue when I moved to a new place.

I was not able to find very much information on the interenet about it. Your remote has lost its sync with the garage door opener.

I called the 1-800 number located on the unit itself (yeah it took a ladder to get it) and the walked me though the setup in about 2 minutes.

I spent longer on hold than it took to setup the remote.

You need to make sure that you a clear on the model #s before you call them.

SOUNDS LIKE SOMEONE MAY HAVE PRESSED THE LOCK / VACATIONS SWITCH ON YOUR WALL CONTROL. IF STILL NOT WORKING AND THE LED IN THE WALL SWITCH IS NOT FLASHING TRY AGAIN TO PROGRAM YOUR REMOTES.

GOOD LUCK

The remote opener in my far works, but the garage door opened on the wall of my garage will not open the door. What is wrong?

Perhaps the wall opener control needs to be accepted by the opener, press the button on the opener head unit and then press the wall switch. Consider new batteries before you do so.

Remotes don't work, keyless entry won't work, wall remote some

Check to make sure the door sensors are pointed at one another and the small light on each one is lit and not flickering. If you cannot get both lights to come on then your sensors have failed.

Garage door remote

It sounds like the lock function has been toggled on. Press and hold the button on the wall control with the lock icon for 3 seconds. This will toggle that function off.

Garage door opener remote won't work

look for a smashed wire between the motor unit and the wall button.

If the wire is smashed the insulation becomes so thin that power will leak thru the insulation.

Loosen the staples with a small screwdriver and slide the wire about ½ inch to move any areas of thin insulation away from the staples.

The second thing would be a bad wall button or a remote with a sticking button.
Or a remote in someone’s purse that gets the button pushed by other stuff in the purse.

The test is to disconnect the push button wires at the power unit. If the interference stops you have located the problem. If you reconnect the wires and disconnect the wire at the wall button this will tell you if the problem is the wire or the button.

Grage door blinking yellow, click and won't open with anything.

TRY RESETTING THE UNIT BY UNPLUGGING IT FOR ABOUT 5 MIN.

IF WHEN YOU PLUG IT IN THE REMOTES STILL DON'T WORK TRY TO REPROGRAM THEM.
IF STILL HAVING TROUBLE--
COUNT THE FLASHES - GOTO LIFTMASTER.COM DOWNLOAD A FREE PDF FOR A SIMILAR UNIT (THE MODEL NUMBERS ARE DIFFERENT BUT THE CODES ARE THE SAME).

Remote only closes the garage door, will not open it

Anytime a door opens and/or closes randomly or doesn’t work consistently I look for a smashed wire between the motor unit and the wall button.

If the wire is smashed the insulation becomes so thin that power will leak thru the insulation and activate the door or interfere with the remote signal.

If the self operation / interference stops you have located the problem. If you reconnect the wires and disconnect the wire at the wall button this will tell you if the problem is the wire or the button.

In your case the expansion of the wall in the afternoon may be enough to cause pressure on the wire to increase the problem – works in the morning but not the afternoon.

Also after you change the batteries you need to reprogram the remotes.
