it sounds like your blue convergence ic is getting weak you need to replace the ic's STK392-110 and you should replace both because when 1 is bad the other will go real soon. They are inexspensive at the sight I posted and you will also get free tech online support if you purchase them there.

This set uses two STK--392-110 type convergence chips----You can buy both on Ebay for less than 13 dollars plus shipping. Both chips need to be replaced and any damaged resistors around them located and replaced also--most of the time the set just needs both chips replaced and then adjusted.

If you cannot do this repair yourself--look in your area--most shops TRY to charge 300-400 for this kind of repair----I do lots of them here--did two Hitachi sets with this problem yesterday for 200-250 total.

MAKE SURE WHOEVER you get to do this changes BOTH CHIPS--SOME techs will come out and just replace one--in a short time the set will have the same kind of trouble again---Now is the slow time of year for TV repair shops---shop around for someone who will do this repair IN YOUR HOME--almost any good tech can do it in about 1 hour---if they say it "has to go to the shop" keep looking.

The chips are black(2 1/2 inches wide and about 1 1/2 inches tall with 18 pins) and will have the STK number printed on them in white--they are located on either one large metal heat sink with fins or two smaller heatsinks that are side by side.

If you have ANY questions or need help reply to this post here.

I do this here for free so if this has helped you take a minute and give me a vote here.

SOURCE: Hitachi 43fwx20b Convergence Problems

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung, JVC, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Akai, Pioneer, Hitachi, Zenith, and others. You can get a convergenece repair kit wiith instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms

  • Screen may look distorted or warped

Hitachi 57s715

It is a rear projection with 3 picture tubes.

If the power light comes on and stays on but no picture/sound the trouble is likely in the power supply.

This set like all Hitachi projection sets before it going back to 1991 has several led's on the board (power) that when with the back off and you plug in should be lit. At turn on you watch them all to see if they come on and if one goes out first before the others--all should dim down and go out together if set unplugged. There is also on most versions a red one that is on all the time.

The red is tied to where the voltage first inputs the set. The others are each connected to several different lines coming out of the set's power supply. If one does not come on or goes out last it indicates a problem on that voltage line---for example a 24 volt line goes to convergence (2 of those lines and one + and one - voltage.)

This is how to narrow down what is happening. If the red one does not come on at all (almost all have that one) none will and that one means right where your house voltage comes in something is wrong.

My hitachi plasma tv model P50S601 only flashes a picture for a second before going black. Once it goes black, the blue power button flashes and can't be turn off by the remote or by manually pressing it...

These tv's are know for this. I have a topic about it telling you how to test and repair these at

p50s601 and p50h401 are basicly the same tv but the p50h401 doesn't have the swival base.

these sets are known for two caps to go bad in the power supply and then most likely it fried out one or both of the driver boards. the driver boards can be repaired. a company that repairs them is listed in the topic. or you can buy new driver boards.

My tv clicks like it's turning on but the blue light doesn't flash and it just wont turn on, it still makes the clicking noise though. 56 inch I think.

My Hitachi 57S715 did the same thing recently. I've been told that it is probably a problem with the power supply. Did you ever get a definitive answer to the problem?

My Hitachi 57S715 just did the same thing. I've been told it could be a power supply problem or the lamp. Still investigating. Did you ever get a final answer to this?

Hitachi remote

buy an infrared detector(looks like a 4" white strip) from radio shack($5.00) and hold it in front of the remote...push power continuously....if the tip of the detector flashes red...remote is good...if not..infrared input on the tv has grown weak and needs replaced
