The main power fuse is not to far from where the power connector plugs into the power board. If this fuse is constantly blowing, you have a dead short on your power supply board.

SOURCE: 42" Vizio - no picture no sound

If the TV goes in standby, then it is in protection mode.

Ensure also that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending
bad signal, check if you get same problem on DVD with no receiver box
connected.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible causes.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , starting the flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then the TV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

On LCD Pay particular attention at inverter and power board, power board can be inspected looking for bulged or leaking capacitors, then tested with a multimeter. The inverter is more difficult to test , there is need to read voltages, should be done by a tech. Also the LCD controller board can cause same problem

SOURCE: Standby power usage of the 42" Vizio Gallevia?

According to a Cnet review of the 42" Vizio Gallevia, the standby power usage is only .75 watts. Because it is so low, I now have no concern about leaving the set in standby mode. Virtually no savings to be realized by unplugging the set between usage.

I unplugged my 42 inch vizio last night then I try to plug it back in and it won't come on not even the vizio sign in the front of the TV light comes on what can I do

Hi Anonymous,
The power supply board in your TV needs to be checked. Please open the back cover if you can, check the fuse, replace it with the same rating one if you find it blown. If the set works, enjoy viewing, if the fuse blows again, consult some local TV tech. Before opening the set please check the mains cord also.
Good luck.

No picture no sound amber light on

There's no 3.2 v off U33 (main module) I wasn't able to find AMC1117, So I used a Radio shack LM317T. this supplies 3.3v to video processor and associated circuit. this won't blow fuse.

My Vizio E420VL would not power on.

It is possible you have a faulty main board. The main board is in charge of sending a signal to the power supply to "turn" on the set. So assuming your replacement power supply is a working board, I'd lean towards the main board. I would recommend getting a professional diagnoses to be sure.

Is there a fuse

I take it you are referring to the power supply main fuse. It will be on the power supply board next to where the power cable plugs into the board. It should be a T6.3amp fuse if my memory serves me correctly. You will have to take the back cover off the TV set to access the power supply board.

Have a vizio vx 42l on the bench. amber light only no power up have my standby 5vdc and my 3.3vdc power button is sending a high pulse to the main mod but i dont get pson to the power supply mod suspect...

This is your mainboard needing replaced! Simple as that!

The main sends the pson signal and without it...you have a dead tv.
