Question about HP Pavilion dv4000 Notebook
Whenever i turn it on all the lights will light up normally however the mute light, the caps lock light, and the num lock light will flash on and off simultaneously about once per second, and the fan will also come on full blast for a second or two at random intervals. The screen also will not come on and the computer itself wont boot up. I have tried taking out the battery, or using it without the power cable, and even connecting it to an external monitor using an hdmi cable but it still wont work
While its off try holding down the function key and the microsoft key and the B button and press the power button and hold all of them down for 5 secs that will get u into the bios look around in there be careful set it for default settings maybe even test battery in bios thats just 1 thing the next step would require a couple small purchases to eliminate the easy things let me know if you want also take out you cd drive gently while laptop is off all the way off not hibernate let me knowl

This unit should still be in warranty. If out of the first year warranty, HP has extended the warranty program for Video issues for a extra year from date of purchase.
Register your unit with HP, if not already and email customer care and log your video issue, ASAP.
I hope this has helped you.

I had the same problem with my hp pavilion dv4 1430 and to fix it I just took out the battery and unplugged it from the power adapter and pushed the power button and waited for a few minutes I put it all back together and started it up and the screen turns right back on.
