Try turning the power off, wait 5 minutes and turn back on.
Power switch usually on back of computer, also make sure no disk in floppy drive before you turn off.

spywaregard 2008 is malware, a parasite if you will

http://www.pcthreat.com/parasitebyid-7159en.html

the last 1/2 of this article will run down a list of files you need to delte to get rid of this nasty little bugger. You can also download various tools to remove it, but it is dependent on your comfort level. if you are comfortable searching for files and changing a couple of registry keys, then by all means, manually is the way to go. If not, you will not have a hard time finding a tool to get rid of this

First you need to make sure that there are no other removable devices plug on the system, like usb, external hard drives, then if that will work try to go to the bios, press f2 when you see the dell logo, and go to the system setup, go to the boot device configuration and make sure that removable device is not the first boot device, if it is the first one choose hard disk and then second boot device ad cd rom/dvd rom and then disable the 3rd boot and the fourth boot device. Make sure to save the changes. And restart the system again. Once the computer is back and running try to go to support.dell.com and check the bios, download if there is a bios update for the system.

SOURCE: My Gateway 500s monitor is stuck in power save mode

Try tapping the F8 key while booting the computer, you will get the start up menu, choose safe mode, when you log on, go to the display settings, that is right click on the desktop, properties, screen saver, advanced and make sure that hibernation is off, along with turn off disks or whatever , probably see turn off monitor after XX minutes, I make ours 15 minutes (150 computers and servers), I don't let the disks turn off. Choose always on also, not home/office. Try this and see if these settings help.

My HP Compaq nx 6110 freezes afta the HP invent screen and doesnt go beyond that, and if i plug the adapter the system boots automatically but not beyond the HP invent screen. Please help.

Hello

Press and hold "CTRL," "ALT" and "Delete" at the same time. Wait and see if a prompt window loads. If one does you can select the program causing the crash and close it. This allows you to return to using the laptop.

Push and hold the power button until the system turns off. Typically, you need to hold the power button down for a few moments before the laptop shuts down.

Remove the power cord from the laptop if the power button does not turn the computer off. Occasionally this can occur, in which case you need to find an alternative way of cutting the power.

Flip the laptop over if the power button is not turning the computer off. Find the battery compartment on the bottom of the laptop and remove it from the computer. Momentarily the computer shuts down. Leave the battery out for a few moments.

Insert the battery back into the computer and press the power button. Shortly, the computer restarts and begins to load the operating system.

press F1 at start up to check the bios for power management settings as perhaps there is a conflict to the settings in Windows. Also I would check what is running in startup (msconfig) and leave nothing but essential antivirus and antispyware. I have seen Norton or MacAfee come up and cause this on several HP Laptops until I uninstalled every last bit of it

also ensure the laptop is in a roomy place a overheating could also be the cause

Go to support.hp.com and look up your computer.
Download and install the Vista drivers.
If you don't see Vista drivers the computer won't run Vista. Go back to XP.

If this helps please vote for my solution.

Hi,

Since, for your laptop you are downgrading the operating system from Vista to XP then with HP notebook.

You need to disable Native SATA support in BIOS utility and go ahead with the installation. To disable the SATA support you need to follow the below steps:

== Disable SATA native support:

1. Turn on or restart the notebook.
2. Press the F10 key when the "HP Invent / Compaq" logo appears on the screen. This will open the BIOS menu.
3. Select the "System Configuration" tab.
4. Select "Disabled" for the "SATA Native Support" item.
5. Press F10 to Save and Exit. Choose Yes for "Save configuration changes and exit now".

For more information on this visit the below link from HP.

Let me know if you find any difficulties doing this..
I hope this will help you to get it work. Plz vote for me..Dreamkam

Power problem with HP Compaq d530 Convertible Minitower Desktop

Try this first : Load the bios (F10 - vista or F1 - XP), Load setup defaults F5. then Save changes F10, and try restarting your pc.
Secondly, after restarting your pc, on the HP invent screen, keep tapping on F9 for the diagnostic test
If theres no any error message, press any other key ACCEPT for the 'R' key to restart or repeat the test.
Other sollution ----------------------
Try loading into safe mode F8, select on the safe mode and let the computer stays into safe mode for sometime.
If the pc doesnt restart, it means theres no any HW problem in ur pc. If it does the same, it means, you will need to check your Power supply, M/board with your tech
