We have come across the same problem where the Acer AL 1711 monitor flashes different colours in rotation but it only happens when the computer is shut down. It doesn't matter whether the data cable to the computer is disconnected or not the monitor just flashes one colour after another. When the computer starts to boot up the monitor behaves perfectly until the computer has shut down again. Does anyone have a solution please?

This answer is in my question itself. I want a specific answer. I want my monitor to behave like AL1916W OR ANY OTHER BRAND MONITORS - ONCE SHUT DOWN - THE MONITOR SHOULD ALSO GET SHUT DOWN. SWITCH OFF THE POWER SUPPLY ETC ETC ARE ALL KIDS SUGGESTIONS.

One of my client's monitors just started this same behavior. This is not a normal behavior. This monitor is about 4 years old and just started this. The power switch doesn't work when in this mode (sync loss from computer). This monitor should shut down when sync is removed from the video signal. I suspect this is an indication of a malfuntioning power supply and not worth the time or money to repair. I will recommend that this monitor be replaced or pluggged into a power strip so it can be turned off.

People don't understand that the front switch on the monitor doesn't work when it's in this sync mode... and to show how stupid their so called solutions are... I just turned off my monitor while windows was shutting down risking missing error messages and after about a year my computer stopped recognizing the monitor on start up so I would have to restart for it to work and eventually the boot file kept getting fried from the constant restarts to get the monitor to work and after 3 windows repair center fixboot sessions to repair my system 32 files I got a new monitor.

I just had this problem at work and what I did was I powered up the computer and went into the menu. I went to the 2nd to last button and selected the reset. It's working perfectly now. I do not know if it will last but it's easy and free.

This is not a monitor problem, it's normal behavior. The monitor does this when it's turned on but no signal is coming from the computer. The solution is to turn off the monitor when you shut down the computer, and turn it back on next time you start it back up. The simplest way to handle this is to get a switched surge-protector strip and plug all your computer system into it (computer, monitor, printer, etc.). Then after the computer shuts down you flip one switch and everything is off. It's also protected from power line problems, and that's always a good idea.

You are an idiot. There's no easy way to say it. You're asking for the monitor to behave in a way other than it was designed. Why is it so hard for you to grasp the idea of turning off a power switch? You need to get some smarts, friend.

Acer AL1711 17" LCD Monitor showing white screen

Hello,

A white screen indicates the power supply board is not putting out the correct voltages to properly power the monitor, just the back light. This type of issue is caused by a failure of the filter capacitors on the power board. You can rebuild your power supply board and bring the monitor back to life by just replacing the the bad capacitors. The problem is that model the Acer AL1711 could come with 1 of 4 different power supply boards install depending and the date manufacturer and supply on hand. If you want to repair the monitor if you could open the unit and get either the model number of the power supply board or send a picture of the board to me I will be glad to help you repair the unit and get it back up and running. You can contact me to send the information at tech@ccl-la.com

My acer monitor is 3 years old, and the power button keeps blinking, but I cannot get the monitor to work.

Most likely means your monitor is shot. Either the power supply crapped out or maybe a capacitor. Either way, if that's the case then you're going to need a new one because it's definitely too expensive to repair it.

We have repaired a couple of these. R1 on board normally burnt also C6 and C22 bad on inverter board. Replace these and it will probably work. R1 is 10 ohm. Capacitors are 220uf 25v.

Acer LCD AL1711 Monitor Flashes Colors

Main power supply, and or the backplane power supply, and or the backplane lamps usually cause this.

The fix is to try new modules using the process of illimination. Once the defective modules are determined, the new ones must stay in the monitor.

That is the process used to service this monitor.

HELP!! ACER AL1711 On and Off forever

Most of these have inverters that power the LCD monitor more than likey that is what happened! These can be repaired, but you will get charged an nominal amount. Better off getting a new one! You better get one soon, 17" monitors will soon be out, they will no longer be sold as the standard will soon be 19".
