Question about Toro Ccr Snowblower

Open Question

Any ideas for why a brand new toro 38025 belt slips off??

I have a brand new toro snowblower model 38025 that has a main drive belt that keeps popping off. Thinking the belt was bad I bought and replaced it with a new one and it also slips off. I can't see any misalignment between the 2 pulleys and the idler arm appears to push up against the belt evenly. What else can it be?

No if your belt is shredding there is something rubbing on the belt. Check the idler/tightner pulley see if it spins freely. Check make sure nothing but the pulleys are touching the belt when it is engaged.

SOURCE: toro model 38182 replaced new flat idler gear belt

It sounds to me like your idler pulley pin is bent. The Toro part number 75-872. You can order it through a shop like www.arcolawn.com and have it shipped to you in a day or two.
Please vote my fix up if it helps.

There should be a tension pulley between the main pulleys. Usually it is mounted on the side wall and can be adjusted with a nut and bolt.

How do I replace a Toro mx5060 drive belt?

First, jack up rear end and support with jacks and ramps. When u first look you will see the first step is to drop the blade belt. Next reach up around the main drive pulley and disconnect the wiring plug by popping up the latch. It may be a tight fit for someone with big hands. Next you will need to separate the stabling plate and move to the side. You will need to remove the tension spring to loosen your small tension pulley. You should inspect your pullies for wear, I had to replace them too, especially the plastic one. You can now apply your new drive belt. Make sure you apply the belt properly or it will just chew up the new belt. It took me two belts to figure that out. You can download a diagram at toro.com. Re-apply your tension and replace all parts in the order you took them off, making sure the wiring adapter is securely in place. Try and start the more and check belt observing safety rules.

Snowblower drive will stop unexpectly when snowblowing

Mine was doing the same thing and I found that if I put it in reverse for a little while it would be ok again for a short time. I found also that it did this more often when the snow was heavy and wet which makes me think that the rubber drive wheel is getting wet and slipping. If you've brought it in to a shop and they've said that nothing could be found wrong, then it must be something that goes away by the time you get it there - water (I'm guessing).
