Asko 12505 (10 yrs old) front load washer sometimes wont spin
Sometimes setting 3 on the dial goes through normal wash /rinse /spin and sometimes it stops after the wash, and wont drain which somehow prevents spinning. If I drain manually and then go to short spin or drain then the pump will start up and spin. It doesnt do this all the time, just sometimes. the other times it goes through a full normal cycle. Any help? Thanks RF

It appears your timer/controller has failed in this instance.
For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing. I recommend both sites because ...
FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.
PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information. RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.
If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell. In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.
Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.
If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

When the washer initially fills for the wash, is it only hot water entering the drum? Try switching the water temperature between hot and cold as it fills. If any of them show little or no water getting through, it sounds too easy but check to make sure water supply taps are on, and that the cold/hot fill hoses aren't reversed. Remove the fill hoses and check any of the screen filters for blockage (in the hoses and in the inlet water valve). When the machine stops and waits to fill but all you hear is a hum, it sounds like there is power going to the valve but water is not able to get through it. Good luck!
Hi there, we have a 10505 machine and the controls must me pretty much the same. The green E is "Economy" button - increases main wash length by 22 minutes so you can use cooler water. The two circles with diagonal may be a spiral with diagonal if you look real close - this is "No spin" button - no spin in any cycle. The 800 button - when pressed reduces spins speed to 800 rpm from 1000 rpm. Not sure about cold clothes though. Do you have the hot water connected? Have you got a temperature dial? If so, make sure you dial up the required temp. Good luck! Cheers, Brian.
Do all of your cycles work when you turn them manually? If one cycle does not work when you turn the dial on it then it will be your timer (The dial assembly $100-up) If all your cycles work manually, then it could be your timer motor which is attached to your timer assembly.
If you turn the dial pass the wash, on to the rinse, does the dial automaticly move (when finishng the rinse cycle)to the spin cycle? If so then your timer motor is ok.
The only wires close to the bottom are the motor, but these should be high enough out of the way.
