Question about Brother MFC-8870dw Wireless Multifunction Laser Printer

Open Question

Squeaky brother printer

It makes a loud squeaking noise everytime it prints. My toner is Brother brand. I checked the paper tray and there is no way to make the letter drawer larger or smaller so I do not think the paper is rubbing and having difficulty feeding through as one post suggested. Any other ideas?

SOURCE: Squeaking

that's a mechanism issue inside..it's going to fail quite soon, so you may not have this problem for too much longer.

SOURCE: My MFC8460N Brother won't print. It makes this

Gears on the tray is broken, or the gears that lift the tray. (thus the clicking noise). And the no paper is due to the actuators underneath not being activated because of the non lift.

SOURCE: Repeated paper jams from the brother hl2070n after remove toner

  1. Remove left cover (where the USB connection is located);
  2. Remove big black gear with a spring on it (you may need to unscrew the PCB that partially covers it);
  3. There is a clutch that sticks to the rubber pad behind this gear. You may put a piece of scotch tape towards to a rubber pad, so the plastic from clutch mechanism would'n stick anymore. http://www.phillycopiers.com/fix/hl-2040-2070-fix.jpg

more than likely it is a problem with the toner cartridge.Try another one and your noise will most likely disappear.

Hl-2140 noises

For a possible fix to the Brother HL-2140 squeal/squeak/noise problem open the printer at the other side from the paper tray and toner cartridge door. You should see a little black roller rod along with some white wheels.

The noise may be coming from the contact between the wheels/rollers which pull paper toward the output tray on top after it has been printed.

Check and clean/wipe the wheels and black rod, especially in the center area. Hopefully the noise will now be reduced/eliminated.

Cheers, Stephen

Clicking noise with MFC-8640D

Make sure that the paper guides in your paper tray are not holding the paper too tight against the front of the tray, there should be about 1/16 inch play so that the paper can be lifted to the roller easily. Also take out your toner and drum and turn it on, if the grinding noise is gone you may need a new toner, some refilled toners are too tight to turn properly.

Brother MFC-9420CN Paper Jam Error message w/ loud grinding noiz

please try this

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.
  3. Also open the back cover of the printer if this model has one.
  4. Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.
  5. If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it away from light/ sun light to avoid damaging it.
  6. If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly. The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.
  7. If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper. Don't force anything, though. Do this step especially if the jam message comes up repeatedly without any obvious paper jam, there may be a small tear of paper inside.
  8. Ones the printer is free of paper Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.
  9. If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Reinspect the paper path.
  10. see alternative if the problem is still not solved.

alternative :
Load a piece of thick paper, for example photo paper and press the resume button (may be diffrent button on diffrent models) a few times to the printer picks up the paper and puts it through the machine.

Brother HL-5250dnt - Clicking Noise and not picking up paper

You may have to use a true Brother toner cartridge as I have the same problem with me MFC 8500. If I use a compatible cartridge it clicks and if I use a geniune Brothr cartridge it does. Brother direct brought this to my attention.
