try removing power supply to printer for 15 minutes....same problem when re-powered? If so, then the firmware has been spammed and must be updated. Contact Canon tech support.

The frimware update cannot see the printer because the printer is in error state. You need to clear the error by disregarding the error. To do this, you to make the error invalid. Please follow the steps below:

1. Turn off the printer.
2. Press and hold the the "back" and the "left" arrow button, and then turn the printer on.

I tried several times to install the new firmware update for my Lexmark Pro901. The update is not able to find the printer. I also try to connect it via searching for the printers IP adress. But it did not...

If you're getting an error message, "There's a problem with your printhead" you won't be able to update the firmware of your printer. You need to get rid of the error message first before applying the firmware update. Here's how:
  1. Open the cover of the printer > Remove the printhead. If the printhead will not go to the center, turn off the printer and pull the printhead to the center.
  2. Once you have the printhead removed, close the cover of the printer and turn on the printer.
  3. Once you have the printhead removed, close the cover of the printer.
  4. It will ask you to "Open Cover to Install the Printhead". Press the Home icon.
  5. It should take you back to the Main menu.
  6. Proceed with the firmware update. Just go to and choose the model number of your printer.
  7. Once the firmware update is successful, go back to step 1 and install the printhead.
If it doesn't work, try to connect the USB cable. Or you can check out this link:

Canon IPF8000..... i need to override the "ink

Before removing the used print head, be sure to update the printer?s firmware version with the included CD-ROM. An error message will be displayed on the printer?s display when the new print head is installed without updating the version. In this case, re-install the used print head and update the firmware version.

Updating the firmware

1. Turn on the power of the printer. Check that the printer is online.

2. Run the file setup.exe in the FirmUpdate folder in the CD-ROM. [GARO Firmware Update Tool] will be installed.

3. Run [GARO Firmware Update Tool] from Programs in the Start menu.

4. By following the instructions, update the firmware version.

1. Turn on the power of the printer. Check that the printer is online.

2. Select the OS89 folder in the FirmUpdate folder in the CD-ROM, and run [GARO FirmUpdate]. [GARO Firmware Update Tool] will be installed.

3. Run [GARO Firmware Update Tool] from [Applications] - [GARO Firmware Update Tool] folder.

4. By following the instructions, update the firmware version.

1. Turn on the power of the printer. Check that the printer is online.

2. Select the OSX folder in the FirmUpdate folder in the CD-ROM, and run [GARO FirmUpdate].

[GARO Firmware Update Tool] will be installed.

3. Run [GARO Firmware Update Tool] from [Applications] - [GARO Firmware Update Tool] folder.
4. By following the instructions, update the firmware version.
Precautions when updating the firmware version
- Use [GARO Firmware Update Tool] after checking that the printer is online.
- Do not turn off the power of the printer while firmware data is being transferred.
- If the printer?s firmware is already the most recent version, the Status of the target printer will be displayed as ?Update Finished? when using [GARO Firmware Update Tool].

Only first print job is done. ( HP color laser jet 2025.)

Hey Sean,

Is the printer networked or connected through USB, it could be either a problem with the spooler or a problem with the formatter board, try the following:

Turn the printer off:

While the printer is off hold down the right arrow (next to the OK button) and the cancel or x button, turn the printer on while still holding and continue holding until you see the message permanent storage displayed on the lcd screen, let go of the buttons and wait for the printer to display the ready message again. This is known as a NVRAM and will reboot the printer, completely clearing out any corrupt data.

Print out a configuration report if your printer is networked through a router, and check to see if the ip address has changed from what is displayed in the ports tab under the driver properties.

Check the firmware date code; under product info on the configuration report. Check on the website under support & drivers for your operating system and the latest firmware update, if your printer is out of date, download the update and sync your printer

Try printing a test page (go to your printers folder, right click on the icon, go to printer properties, and go to the general tab) if the test page does not print, configure the ip address manually on the ports tab.

You can adjust the printer to print directly without spooling under the advanced tab, select the option to print directly to the printer.

If this does not fix the issue the it is definitely the formatter board and you will have to have the printer service or call hp if within the 1 year warranty period and ask for an express exchange (US Only) , where they will send you a refurbished model for a fee typically $69 + tax.

Let me know if this solves your issue

Intermittent doc feeder jam. rollers are cleaned and paper path is clear. doc feeder noisy

This could be happening if the the firmware is out of date, check the hp website under support and drivers. After you have input the product number cb534a, select your operating system and you will see the firmware update utility. Before running the updater make sure that the phoneline is disconnected, and print our a configuration report from the printer check the firmware date code under product information. If the firmware is up to date do not update, try an nvram:

hold down the down arrow and the cancel button while the printer is off and reboot, hold the buttons down until you see the permanent storage message displayed.

If this does not solve the issue it could be a hardware failure, if within the 1 year warranty period, call hp and have them refer you to a local asp or opt out for the express exchange, it incurrs a cost of $69, but you will get a refurbished printer as well as a shipping label to send your deffective printer. Hp's tech support number is 1800 334 5144.

My colour printouts from new Samsung CLP-310 do not match original WORD 2000 docs colours (or compared to HP deskjet. Is there a MS patch for this?

There is an update for your printer. This is a firmware update. A firmware update, rewrites code located on the printer's main system board. The latest update is dated 10/17/08.

Flashing firmware does not have a go back element or undo, so it is really important that we verify your model and what seiries of printer you have. I suspect you have a CLP-300 Series printer and that the 310 of the 300 just describes some features added or left off and even who you purchased it from, in many cases.

Please look at these two photos and then post the data off the name plate for your model number in particular.

You will notice there are two lines to include in your reply.
1.) The Model: (first line)
2.) M/C entry (second to last entry in this photo of the label.

Once you verify this and I post the firmware update link for you, you will need to follow the instructions I include below.

b. power cycle the printer (turn off & unplug power from unit)
c. power printer and turn switch back ON.
happily printer stays alive long enough to upload the new
firmware update.
d. Log on to your printer via a computer on your network
Open a browser, address will be your printer's IP address
or dns name. ex: (note: if you password

49.4C02 Service Error

The 49.4C02 error usually follows a paper jam. When the user closes a door after clearing the jammed media from one area of the printer, the control panel immediately posts a 49.4C02 error. Often, the customer will then power cycle the printer and it will hang at Checking Printer. For the 49 error to occur, additional media must still be stuck in the paper path.

Firmware version 5.005.3 contains a fix that allows the printer to recover and notify the customer of the location of the additional jammed media in the paper path. Customers who experience this issue should update to the newer firmware
