Question about Moultrie ATV Spreader With Electric Feedgate

1 Answer

I want to retrofit my moultrie atv spreader manual feed gate with an electric feed gate. They did not offer the electric feed gate when I purchased my current model. Both models are identical except for the feed gate. How do I go about making the change and where can I get the new parts?

I am also looking to retro fit my manual gate spreader with the electric gate. I emailed Moultrie with the question about it and they emailed back about two weeks later that I needed to contact customer support. I call customer support but hung up after being on hold for 15 minutes. I have not found the electric gate anywhere else so I guess I will have to call them back. At this point it appears that is the only way to get one. I have been told the retro fit works with no problem.

I got in touch with Moultrie customer service. They won't come right out and say it, but the electric gate can be installed on the ATV spreader that originally came with the manual gate. They read the instructions to me over the phone. You have to buy the gate assembly and wiring harness with remote seperately. They are $29.99 each.

What is the spreader setting for 2.8 lbs per 1000 feet?

Hi Tom:
It will depend on the size of the particles being spread.
Usually the package that the material comes in will have a table showing the settings.
Some of the fertilizers that have oyster shell can obstruct the opening and prevent the gate from closing. Gotta watch that.
You could also google the make of your spreader for information.
Here's a link to sites for Scott Spreaders.

I need the lever that controls the opening of the feed gate. The only number on the spreader is 0195 ther is no explanation for this number

I would take the machine to a lawn mower shop and get advice as to what make it is and if there are any generic levers that could be adapted to do the job.

The recommended settings for your type of spreader should be listed on the package of the bag of weed and feed you have. There should be a rate chart on the bag. If not, put the setting on your unit on the middle setting, that way, you are not using too little and not using too much.

How to use Ace Green Turf Spreader

At the bottom of the spreader hopper is a gate, there should be a setting lock that allows the opening to move only so far. This may be at the handle controls but unlikely.
To be sure of your spreader pattern and rate, use the spreader on a parking lot to see the pattern, you can always sweep up the granules and reuse them! Walking speed is the biggest factor in spreading rates.... Opening is the next....

How do I calibrate my acugreen 1000 drop spreader?

The spreader comes already calibrated. The opening of the gate is determined by the setting that you input from the handle. This will correspond to the recommended settings provided on the fertilizer bag.

I suspect that the 'turn around gate" is not actuating. they mechanism can become dry and get stuck. Often a simple fix is to open the left cover of the feeder (feed in section), then lift up the top tray where you place the originals. You will see a black panel which is the "gate". Simply press on this and it will move down and the spring back up when released. That is often enough to free it up for the short-term; however you may need to do this after a period of non-use, as the solenoid that actuates it, bushings etc., are dry.

I hope this helps.
