SOURCE: I need to replace the

1. Unplug the microwave or turn off its breaker.

2. Open the door, then detach the control panel as shown in the video at
http://www.microwavedisplay.com and swing it down, but without disconnecting the wires.

If you have any trouble getting the grille off once the screws are removed, slide the hood vent grille to the left about 1/4", then then pull it forward.

On some models there are L-shaped clips that fit into a slot to hold bottom of the vent.

How do I access the control panel so I can replace the fuse?

It depends on the type of oven. On countertop models, remove the outside cover. On over the range units, remove the control panel. You may have to remove the air deflector on the top first in order to gain access to the control panel screws.

How to open front ge over the range microwave fuse\

Hello guest.
Before you attempt to repair a microwave oven yourself, you have to have and know how to use a multimeter, whether it is analog or digital. You need to be able to determine what components to check and what to look for. If the main fuse is blown (open) you need to check all of the components in the high voltage circuit before you replace the main fuse. You MUST know how to discharge the high voltage capacitor before you put your hands or test leads in the general area of the high voltage section. It can easily kill you if you are not careful to respect it properly. I take it that the unit is "dead". No display, and it acts like it is unplugged from the wall. If the main fuse is good, there are typically two or three temperature or thermal 'fuses' besides the main 'line' or 'monitor' fuse. Some of these are self resetting and some are a 'one time' type. Before you even open up the microwave, you need to verify that the power to it is valid. I don't mean to sound condescending but I don't know your level of familiarity or experience. To gain access to the area behind the control panel, you typically need to remove the louvre or the top panel above the door and control panel area. With that out of place, you should see one to three screws holding the control panel escutcheon in place either on the top or the side of the panel. Some panels are mounted differently, hinge outward, hinge down, etc. You may or may not find the fuse holder once inside that access area. Again, BE CAREFUL and make sure that there is no electrical power in the area that you are working. Good luck.....

How do I change the fuse?

On most GE/Hotpoint models, the control panel assembly will either tip down, or pivot sideways for access to the components behind it. Screws holding the top air deflector might have to be removed in order to gain access to the control panel mounting screws. I recently junked-out a similar model. The main fuse was near where the power cord enters the cabinet on top. Avoid contact with any of the high voltage components.

GE, Model# PVM2070SM1SS microwave - touch panel does not respond

GE has a special program, and your microwave is very likely a part of this program. Please contact GE consumer relations asap at 800-386-1215, at the prompt press 5. Our same microwave model has that problem. GE is replacing the entire microwave free of charge.

I have a GE JE1660 Profile Countertop microwave oven and it just quit. No warning, no lights, no response to any button pushed. Fix or replace?"

there is a 20 amp fuse inside the unit ,but requires to gain access.. may luck out and it just blew the fuse... normally they are behind the control panel unplug unit and take screws out to gain access hopefully that will fix you up ...if the fuse is good i would suspect you have a failed control board on the unit.... good luck

For XL1800 Microwaven, suddenly it makes a loud noise and no heat at all when I try to microwaven.

most likely either the thermal fuse or the magnetron has failed... you can gain access to the thermal fuse by removing the control panel to unit and will see it attached to the side of the magnetron it is approx the size of a nickle and has 2 wires attached to it...remove the wires and ohm out should be closed if good... if this is good then the humming is coming from the magnetron itself and will require disassembly of the outer cabinet and replacement ...good luck to you

GE, Model # PVM2070SM1SS control panel is out. Can they be repaired. Replacement is more than the cost of the oven.

Yes they can depending on the type of fault. If you have some electronics skills you use the instructions at this link to assist you:
Microwave Repair Manual
If this is beyond your skills/time available to tackle, you can certainly call a local repair shop and ask if they will take a look at it then provide you with an estimate/quote for repair.
You are sure that it is the control panel and not another problem (main fuse, interlocks, etc...)?

I have a GE microwave and F3 has just come up on the display screen???

F3 Shorted key panel (touch pad).
1. Will occur if a shorted key panel is detected continuously over 60 seconds.
2. Replace key panel (touch pad).

What you can first try before replacing the keypad is first unplugging the microwave. Then you can get access to the panel by first removing the top grill and then unscrew the top of the control panel. There is a strip that looks like tape which attaches to the control panel which you need to wipe off and then blow dry. may not work the first time but be patient. also clean the bottom of the door and the latches to make sure the connection is clean. After that is should hopefully work without replacing the touch pad.

Let me know how this works out for you.

Cleaning ge profile convection microwave

HI HERE THE STEPS TO DISASSEMBLEA gas range cabinet comes apart very easily. Here's how:
Step 1: Take out the screws that hold the panels, and pull off the control knobs. On the control panel the knobs are friction-fit; pull them straight off. Some knobs may have setscrews in the base of the knobs; back out these screws using a screwdriver or Allen wrench and pull off the knobs.

Step 2: Remove the back service panel on the control panel by backing out a series of screws around the edge of the panel. To remove the front panel, take off the control knobs and remove a series of mounting screws that hold the decorative panel to the frame. These screws may be hidden by molding or trim; pry off the molding or trim with a screwdriver, or take out several screws.

Step 3: To gain access to the burner assemblies, remove the burner grates and then the top of the range. The entire range top should either lift up and off the range or open up and back on hinges. The oven door can usually be removed by pulling it straight up off the hinges on both sides of the door. Some hinges have a latch that must be unlocked before the door can be removed.

Step 4: If the surface light of the range burns out, remove retaining screws and panels as necessary to gain access to the bulb. Replace the burned-out bulb with a new one of the same type and wattage; check the ends of the old bulb for this information. Then replace any retaining panels.

Step 5: If the oven light burns out, unscrew it and remove it from the oven. Replace the burned-out bulb with a new one of the same wattage, made for oven use.
