Cycles will not stay going

Hi, I am able to start my washer. The red light comes on, It fills with water. It then agitates for about 45 seconds before it stops. The red light stays on. If I turn the washer off and wait 20 minutes or so, I am able to pull the knob again that turns on the red light. It agitates another 45 seconds or so. Same thing again. This keeps up until I get to the rinse cycly. It fills with water. Then I am back to this start stop thing . Finally I get to the spin cycle and have to still keep doing this thing of starting the washer every 20 minutes or so for a few seconds work. It takes a really long time to get anything done like this. What is the problem? Also, I did not see the exact numbers that matched my maching. I pulled the panel down and there was a paper and the number on it was 584VA 1093 Maytag Dependable Care Washer 10 cycle. Thanks for your help. Lissa

It sounds as if there could be an overheating problem in the control electronics - perhaps just due to one faulty component that could be replaced, perhaps the whole board is faulty. If you have a user manual (sorry i had no luck finding one online), then just check if there is a "reset" - usually would be either unplugging the machine and leaving it for a few minutes, or pressing and holding a combination of buttons. (ask again if you don't have a manual, I can look more but Maytag manuals are hard to find) Are you keen to try and investigate this further yourself? If so please ask again and we can try and talk you through opening it up and what to check. You will most likely need a selection of screwdrivers, a flashlight, a digital camera and a few hours. If you would rather get a service agent in to have a look, please post back with your general area and we can hopefully locate one for you. There could also possibly be a motor fault, although I would expect an error message/light/beep to show if so, but perhaps not. It sounds repairable. Hope this helps :)

Amana washer won't continuously fill the basin with water.

Laundry Washer or Dishwasher?

If it is a dishwasher, it sounds like the Flood Sensor is stopping the cycle. There is a tray between the floor and the underside of the basin. If it is a Dishwasher, you just need to find the leak and fix it.

For a Laundry washer, it is a problem with the control board and needs professional diagnosis and repair.

Why does my washer stop working in the middle of wash cycle and then go dead and no response?

Should get some one to look at it. If there is a hot smell could be a short someplace.

My washer is making a loud nosie when agitation starts

That is a normal sound when the transmission shifts from the last spin cycle to go into the agitate cycle. It should make a loud click sound that does not last longer than a second. There is nothing wrong with your washing machine.

Screeching noise after water starts going in

Hi just read your posting. Now put the machine to a spin cycle and push start,Does the noise happen in this cycle? If the noise doesn't happen then try a cold water fill but turn the hot tap off first. If the noise still doesn't happen then try a hot water fill but turn the cold water off first. This noise sounds like one of your water valves is faulty. Please reply with additional information on the questions and I am sure we can rectify this fault.

Stuck in spin

Hi!

If the Washer is stuck in spin then either the timer or a cold-water supply problem is causing this :
It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance, then you need to replace the timer.
It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water

Do rate the solution as FixYa and revert for further clarification.

Soon as i set cycle and swich on door light flashes open

hi,
The cycle doesn't advance
When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.

Thanks for your question.
