SOURCE: industrial sewing machine top thread breaking

The brother DB 2 series of machines do not use a needle with a flat side. the needle system is DBX1 and are available from size 10 to size 20.
Try using the right needle for the machine and the right size for the thread you are using. this should make it better

The three most obvious causes (other than that of the machine possibly being slightly out of time) are:

1) Too small of a needle size - increase the size.

2) A needle that has a flaw / defect - change the needle.

3) Needle not inserted correctly, either not pushed all the way up into the needle bar, or not installed facing the correct place. On this machine, the small "scarf" in the needle (an indent just above the eye) shouldface the right side of the machine.

I am a swimwear designer and just got a juki ddl 8300n did I pick a good machine? How can I adjust the machine for a more stretchy stitch?! What number should my stitch dial be on to get a stretch?

Perhaps a manual would be helpful:

File JUKI DDL 8300N Instruction Manual pdf

You should probably contact the manufacturer with questions. Hopefully, you did some thorough research before purchasing this machine. From the info I found, it appears to be a straight stitch only machine. I don't know anything about this machine, but I would be hesitant to purchase a straight stitch machine for sewing swimwear. Usually, swimwear needs a stretch stitch or zig-zag capability. Just my thoughts...

How i use juki rotalix hw622 and which number of needle we need to sew properly in home

Depends on what you're sewing. A good 14/90 universal needle should work for most material though.

Hi Rafael,

I assume this is a home sewing machine, not industrial.

The size of needle depends on the fabric you want to sew. Lightest needles are used for thinnest materials and heaviest are used for heavier materials like canvas.

The Singer site has a nice explanation about fabric weights and sewing machine needles:

I have a brother DB2 B755 its all new to me i have followed the instructions step by step but when i sew anything my needle snaps how do i rectify this problem

Could be a couple of things causing this:
  • are you pulling on the fabric as it feeds under the foot?
  • Is the needle size very low in comparison to the fabric you are sewing? (refer to for information on using the right size and type of needle) If you are sewing denim with a size 70 it will break for sure.
  • You could be using a straight stitch foot but with the machine set to sew a zig zag or similar stitch so the needle is striking the foot.
  • Is the bobbin and bobbin case in the machine right for it? It is possible that a different bobbin will fit but not actually operate correctly.
Is this machine new? or just new to you?

If its not new, then it is possible that the timing is out and the needle is striking to hook causing it to break. If the machine is not new and you've just acquired it, then consider taking it for a service to rule out any faults.tally_girl_23.jpgI googed this model number and all the images that came up looked like this, an industrial chain stitch machine.
If this is what you have then check out this spec below, it is specifying an industrial needle (DB 1 x 11) so if you are using a 130/705H standard domestic needle in it, it will definitely be wrong.

tally_girl.gif So if this is the machine you've got, you may need to find a good industrial sewing machine person, get him to look over the machine, supply you with the correct needles and perhaps give you a 30 min instruction on how to use it.

I am in need for needles for my Speedylock 1600 What kind of needles do I use......the manual says household type.....does that mean a regular sewing Is machine needle? Is there a size or number?

The plain ol' Singer-type needles are what you need, they're pretty much the standard through the household sewing machine/serger industry.

Match your needles to the material you're using (thickness of the needle) and the thread you're using (eye size). There's generally a chart on the needle package to clue you in there.

That's a nice machine, good luck with it!

Check with a local sewing machine store and ask if they carry needles for industrial sewing machines.
