Why does my furance not turn on when the pilot lite is lit?

Apparently it is not calling for heat. The thermostat needs to close. If it is wired correctly and the stat closes and it still does not start something is bad in the control section. You need to get a tech to help you. Randomly jumping wires is asking for a disaster.

Have Coleman electric furnace and strips stay on no matter what you do changed sequencer and limits nothing left to change any ideas

Have you tried a new t-stat? They go bad. Also try jumping wires at t-stat, then disconnect & jump at furnace - to see if there's a short in the wire

Disconnect the T-stat wires from the contactor while the T-stat is still off and measure for 24-28 volts from those wires. If the voltage is there then the T-stat is bad. I believe the contacts on the contactor are just welded shut (not uncommon), and the T-stat is fine.

Gas valve not opening every time . i changed thermo pile& t-stat everything checks out o.k. but will only open valve intermittantly the only way i can get valve to open every time is to jump with wire.

I would be inclined to run new wire to stat if you are jumpering valve to get it to operate. However if you are jumpering wire directly off stat then I would check t-stat again.I know you said you had already changed stat but it's possible you got a defective one. If valve opens everytime you jump it I would say valve is okay. Hope this helps. Thanks

pull stat wires off of valve and put a jumper wire across the 2 TH terminals on the valve, if it comes on could be the stat wire run a peice of stat wire from unit to stat to test.

A/C worked fine last year. Turned it on for the first time this year and the outside unit does not come on. The inside unit fan works just fine. I checked the circut breaker and turned on and off. No...

check and see if you have 24volts at the contactor outside.if you do you have a bad contactor. if you don't take the tstat off the wall and take a jumper wire and jump out R to Y on the t-stat if it works you have a bad t-stat. if that does not do anything check if you have a wet switch or a float switch my be open. if you don't have one in your inside unit you should have a two wire going out to the condensing unit. you should have two t-stat wires on y in the inside unit and one of the wire that go to the condensing unit is on c or com. if you have power at y and c in the inside unit (must have door switch and y and r jumped at t-stat) you have a break in your wire to the condensing unit. alot of times landscapers it i with the weed wacker lol. hopes this helps you.

York gas furnace doesn't come on at all. It has electronic ignition, thermostat seems ok, circuit breaker Ok. There is nothing going on at all. It doesn't try to light.

First find the electronic control board. Is the diagnostic light on and flashing a code? If not look for the automotive type fuse on the board. It is a 3 amp. Is it blown? Next look for a screw in fuse in the ssu switch on the side of the furnace. Is it blown? If all the fuses are good is the door switch behind the front cover working? Is the door properely installed? If all these items are working, you should have power to the furnace. If these items are ok, check for 24volts at the transformer. Check the terminals not black and white. If you have voltage there, remove the red and white thermostat wires on the control board. Next take jump wire and jump the red and white terminals. This rules out the stat and stat wiring. Your furnace should start. Check the status light for any further problems and crossreference the flashing light code to fix.
