Hello btwinston1,dont start at the pump for a no drain issue on DW.start under your sink with the drain hose, air gap or disposer.thats where i have found blockages most of the time.after cleaning inspecting their ,then work your way back following that hose and checking at each connection.then if not there you can think about the pump .just email thru fixya and we take care of it.God bless ,tom

Squealing noise

A loud high pitch whine while running the dishwasher means that there is something caught in the chopper assembly. To get to the chopper assembly you need to take the racks out and take the pump apart from the inside of the dishwasher. The chopper assembly looks like a metal grate with holes in it. And it might not even be stuck in the grate but somewhere in the pump area due to the water being pumped out, so the best idea is to take the whole thing apart and clean everywhere. However I do not recommend doing this unless you are completely certain you will remember where the screws and gaskets go, otherwise you risk damaging your pump or house from a leak or improper installation. You have been warned.

Gene, I have a Kenmore Elite model # 665

Hey Steve,Sorry it took me so long to answer i was offline and my add is not supposed to displayed when i am off line so sorry about that.
Now then on that dishwasher with the hum and no water circulation it sounds as if the main wash motor is jammed up for some reason it could be that the motor itself is defective or as simple as something such a piece of debris such as broken glass or almost anything caught in the motor causing it to not turn on,by disassembling the wash motor you can see if something is caught in,if nothing is caught in its a (sorry to say) the motor itself thats bad and would need to replaced. The reason the water drains even though it will not circulate is because of the separate drain pump that is working Please reply back after disassembling the pump to check for debris if ya need further assistance.
Thanks for using Fixya.Com,GENE

After a load water still remains in bottom

If it is a very small amount it may be normal. Check to see if the manual says anything about that. If it is a large amount, the drain hose may be partially blocked where it connects to the pump underneath. Something like a cherry pit caught at that connection could cause water to not drain fully.

Maytag MDB4000AWB-won't drain-now water isn't coming into machine

Hi there,

You may be due for a new d/w because this particular model has the pump & motor as an assembly. Only a qualified repairman would have to take a look, as it's quite complex to take apart. On the other hand, if you do call someone in, it may just a drain hose or simply something caught in the intake.

Dishwasher accumulates a pool of water long after use

hi there,

if the water is outside of the d/w, on the floor infront, you may need to have the door gasket replaced

if the water is inside in the tub, the d/w is not draining. check the drain pump for anything caught in it, like coins, hair or food pieces.

can you provide me with the make and model off the dishwasher?

thanks

Noisy motor

It could very well be the wash pump motor starting to fail. It could also be something as simple as food and debris clogging the intake to the pump. The main wash pump is used to circulate water during the wash cycle. If the intake to this pump is clogged with debris, it can exhibit louder than usual noise during operation and lower water pressure. This particular model also has a chopper assembly just prior to the pump intake. This chopper can dice up some food particles, but cannot process things like popcorn kernels, tough pieces of meat, celery, etc. Basically, anything hard, fibrous, or tough. If you go to searspartsdirect.com, theres an illustration of the pump assembly under the "Pump and Motor Parts" heading. The chopper is item(s) number 6 & 8. If anything gets caught in the chopper it will not provide enough water flow for the main wash pump. Double check the pump sump reservoir and make sure it is all clean. If it still exhibits the same symptoms, the motor may be damaged. I hope this helps you. Let me know if you need further assistance.

Pump Continuously surges

hi,im a hobart service tech.couple of things to try (you may already have)--check the wash arms at the seams make sure their not cracked, make sure the drain is sealed and not leaking at all.if the unit loses any water or the wash arms are cracked at the seam the unit will sound like its starving for water.make sure the unit is leveled.next time you go back if its acting up pour a half gallon of water in the tank and see if it runs correctly,if it does you could be losing water or the water fill vave could be acting up and not letting enough water in.let me know.
