Question about Linksys Wireless-G WRT54G Router
I have a toshiba laptop, wife has a hp, both run xp home. my computer cosntantly drops the connection while my wife's dosent. I dont know what steps i should start with. I dont know very much about computers and I dont know anyone that does. We just recently moved and was in an apartment complex. Where we moved we have no one within 100 feet but still tries to connect to other wireless computers.
That may sound like a "roaming tendency" issue, with your laptop wireless card or settings, and/or general radio interference. try checking and tweaking the advanced settings of your wireless card, and maybe check for outside interference between your computer and router. Many cards have roam settings that dictate how often they roam between APs. I too live in an apartment complex, where other neighbors have their own WiFi router and there can be interference, and "intrusion issues" :? if your equipment is not properly set and secured.
