Go to searspartsdirect.com and type in the model number you provided. Look under the "Cabinet" heading at item number 5. The clips should be placed in the openings at the top of the front panel as shown. It may take a little effort to reinsert them. This is a common problem sometimes when opening the top panel. I do not know how you opened the front panel, but for future reference, insert a putty knife at the point of the clips and push in to release the top panel. This may prevent them from coming loose. If the clips are damaged and you wish to order new ones, the part number is 22001650 and is sold as a set of two. If you have questions, or require additional assistance please let me know. I hope this helps you.

The switch # 3949238 on my kenmore washer #110.29842991 is broken. how do I remove the top cabinet so I can replace the part?b

Disconnect the power first.

Many washers have spring clips holding the lid in place, and a putty knife or scraper can be shimmied in to compress the clips and open the lid for service.

Some units, esp old Maytags, have 2 screws near the bottom of the front panel, and removing them will let the front panel tilt out, granting access to the top cover from the front.

Some later Whirlpool and Kenmore units have a cabinet that comes off in one piece. You'll need to remove 2 screws holding the splash panel to the top of the washer. Flip the panel up giving access to the timer/switches area. Disconnect the white plastic wire connector, then use a screwdriver to pop the metal clips in the corner. Set these aside, and the whole cabinet will tilt forward, and can then be lifted off the washer base/back. Space to work will be an advantage, for this type of cabinet.

How can I replace the pump belt of a washing machine Sears Kenmore model #110.82671710 stock #26717

The Kenmore top load washing with the given model number 110.82671710 is a direct-drive type and doesn't have a pump belt. The pump is directly coupled to the rear spline of the motor.
jahn27_48.jpg

The cabinet needs to be removed if access to the drain pump and replacement is necessary. Remove the screws attaching the bottom front corner of the console to the top of the cabinet then pull forward and up on the console and lay it back on the hinges.

jahn27_50.jpg

Disconnect the lid switch harness connector by pressing on the tab located in the middle and pulling it up.
jahn27_51.jpg

The cabinet is attached to the rear of the washer by two brass-colored retaining clips. Insert a flat blade screwdriver into the turned-up edge of the clip, located on both sides, and then pry back to release the clip from the slot in the cabinet.
jahn27_52.jpg

Open and hold the lid while grabbing the cabinet front opening then tilt the top of the cabinet toward you by pulling the cabinet away from the base. This releases the front and back slots of the cabinet from the tabs in the front and back of the base. Using the side of your leg and/or body as a support for the front of the cabinet, carefully lift up and set the cabinet aside.
jahn27_53.jpg

With the cabinet removed, pry the clips securing the pump to the motor off and remove the pump.
jahn27_54.jpg
jahn27_55.jpg

Detach the hoses from the drain pump and attach it to the new one then install it back into the rear spline of the motor and secure it with the retaining clips. Bring the cabinet to the front of the washer then slide the front bottom rail of the cabinet under the rail at the base of the machine then lay down the cabinet into position. Make sure the slots in the cabinet sit into the tabs at the base of machine.

Reconnect the lid switch harness then push the retaining clips back down into position to secure the cabinet to the rear of the machine. Reinstall and secure the console to complete the repair.

Kenmore model 110 top load washer water drips out slowly, takes a long time to fill tank

Either the inlet hose screens or the water inlet valve screens or the the water inlet valves not opening completely. Check the screens and the water flow from the inlet hoses by removing them from the water inlet valves. The water valves are not opening properly and needs replacing if the screens are clear and the water flow from the inlet hoses are good.

Remove the cabinet to access and replace the water inlet valve assembly. Unplug the machine from the electrical supply then release the console from the top of the cabinet depending on the model of your machine then pull forward and up on the console and lay it back on the hinges.

Won't wash or spin power ok

the motor to transmission coupling is broken. You need to get the cabinet off. Following are instructions for that.

  1. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the screw from each side of the console.
  2. Pull the console forward and up to remove the tabs on the bottom of the end caps, out of the holes in the top.
  3. Lift the console up and lay it on its back.
  4. Unplug the harness connector for the lid switch.
  5. Insert a flat screwdriver into the front edge of the clip (located on both sides), and pry back. Remove both clips from the holes in the cabinet and slide down the other end of the clips and out the slot in the rear panel.
  6. Open and hold the lid while grabbing the cabinet front opening. Be sure when tilting the cabinet that the back edge clears the vacuum break.
  7. Tilt the top of the cabinet toward you by pulling on the lid and opening of the cabinet. This releases the back slots of the cabinet from the tabs in the back of the base.
  8. Carefully pull the cabinet away from the base of the washer and set it aside.
Now you have access to most of the parts.
Now you see the pump on front, remove just the clips, you don't have to take the hoses off unless they are too much in the way but you can swing that away to get the motor off, same with just the clips. There is a coupling on the back end of the motor. This is probably broken. Go to appliance parts store in your area, for less than $20 you get new one, replace and reassemble in reverse order.

That should fixya!

Does not spin or agitate and this is from 70 series model 110, at cycle

You may have a bad lid switch. Close and open the lid to listen for a 'click'. If this is working, I can assume the motor is spinning, then it is the motor to transmission coupling that has gone out on you.

remove screws from the head at each side, and flip the head back. Note two clips holding this cabinet in place how they attach for proper reassembly. Pop these out with a screwdriver and pull cabinet towards you. If you need to replace the lid switch, here is where you can do that. Under the cabinet, you will see where the switch is, remove the screws and the switch will fall out. Remove the connections and replace the switch with the screws and reassemble the cabinet.

If you are checking the coupling, continue here.
The pump and motor are in front of you at bottom. Take clips from pump and pull pump straight off. Pull clips from motor, and it will drop down. Note if the coupling is broken. Replace as needed. Reassemble motor and pump assy.

Best of luck on your repair

How do I get the top to pop open? I thought you just stick a screw driver in and pop it up but its not working?

The old ones used to be like that but these newer models are built to remove the cabinet. How do they do it? They pop the control panelup and release clips holding the cabinet to the base then the case/cabinet is easily removed.

Cant get the back panel off the washing machine

If it is a top loading washer the cabinet itself is actually removed from the back panel and base frame.

1. Remove two trim caps on either side of the control panel, they are just plastic, and clip in place, either remove by hand, or if they don't come right away you can pop them off with a flat blade screwdriver.
2. Remove two screws (now visible with trim removal) that secure the panel to the cabinet.
3. Panel should now be able to pull up and out, flip it back on it's hinges.
4. Disconnect the wire harness from the lid switch connector, this should be the only place (on most models) where wires connect from the control panel to the cabinet top.
5. Remove the two gold clips that secure the cabinet to the rear panel of washer, they snap into the cabinet, and should pop out easily with a flat screwdriver, this can be difficult to figure out which way to go with the screwdriver, the best I can describe it would be to slide the blade of the screwdriver into the front of the clip (about 2 inches below the cabinet top) and then press the screwdriver back over the top of the clip for leverage. It should pop right out.
6. With the clips removed, you should now be able to simply tip the cabinet towards yourself and pull it right off of the frame. The washers "guts" should all be accessible now.
Hope that helps.

Water leaking out of pump

Unplug the washer. The consul is hinged from the top. Remove the two screws at the base of the consul ( at the front or the back) and pull the consul toward you then flip the consul back. You will find two gold colored spring clips under the consul. Use a screwdriver in the front slots, pop the clips out. Unplug the connector to the lid switch, tilt the cabinet forward and set it to the side.
Remove the two hoses to the pump and the two spring clips that hold the pump on. Your half way there. replace the pump and reassemble the machine. make sure you line up the cabinet. Cost should be about $50.
