Sure there are oval, square, and rectangular dishes. I usually use rectangular ones.

Need a lid for the electric skillet corning ware

In addition to the previous replies, on EBay one can easily purchased the glass covers. Also the World Kitchen website, and other vintage places sell Corningware glass lids. Generally speaking the "skillet" casserole was a 10-inch casserole, and that would be about the size of the lid. Usually the lids matched the dish, and on the bottom or handle of the dish there would a model number. The model number would lead you toward the corresponding glass lid.

Halogen tabletop oven

You can use any oven-safe dish that will fit inside the oven (preferably, with the low rack in place). I've seen 3 qt round casseroles that will fit when you aren't using the extender. (For example, this should fit: http://www.crateandbarrel.com/dining-and-entertaining/casseroles/lucerne-3-quart-casserole/s512853 ) Some casseroles are sold with non-oven safe lids. Make sure that you check the temperature range for the specific dish. Some are only rated to 400 degrees F.

Unfortunately, I do not know of any sources that sell the accessories separately.

I hope this helps.

What is a great casserole dish to invest in?

Well it all depends on how much you can spend and if you want to be able to use it on top of a stove burner as well as in an oven. If you don't have a lot to spend, then buy caserole dishes which don't have to work on a stove burner as well. You can always use pots instead. You want something that heats evenly with out burning. I like Corell ware as it is not too expensive. Get a set with at least a lasagna pan, a two quart and a three quart casserole. I would not get the clear glass dishes any more as I just had one break into three pieces on me as it was taken out of the fridge after defrosting. Dinner went on the floor along with the broken glass.
OR if you really want an investment peice, go to Homegoods and buy an imitation of the French dishes Le Creuset Le Creuset Stoneware Deep Covered Bake or buy a real Le Creuset at Williams Sonoma.

What size pan can be used instead of a 4 quart casserole pan?

you can use a 10x14" pan. However, make sure to see if the new pan's depth is the same as the original one. Deeper pans will cook slower than shallow ones so you may need to adjust the baking time.

What is the difference between a stew and a casserole?

A stew is cooked on a stove or over a fire and a casserole is cooked evenly in an oven. As well, casseroles are cooked either covered or not, while stews are usually covered so they don't evaporate.

Have a corning ware countertop electric skillet. I need the skillet part. This particular item originally came with three parts. The bottom which is a seperate piece of corningware that heats up, the pan...

I think the poster is talking about an item called Corning Electromatic Skillet. These Corning Ware skillets can be found all over the internet like Ebay. The part that sits on the warming area part is not called a skillet but a casserole. Look for one that is 12" by 12". Comes in many patterns also. If interested here is a site that has one available. http://SEWWHATSNEW47.blujay.com just search for Corning Electromatic skillet on that store. I think this is what the poster is talking about.
