I don't see a termo coupling in this unit
    it's a igniter and a flame sensor

The flame sensor is a thermocouple, you need to test it with a multimeter, on normal temp it should return approx 1Kohms.
Also test the pressure switch, if it is defective you can have same problem.

I would suspect your not getting a pilot. If not, you need to check the pilot gas line and orifice. You must get pilot prove before you get main burner.

Hot surface I believe still uses a pilot. There is no way AGA is going to let a bunch of gas dump onto the furnace without some sort of flame first.

Take off pressure switch and turn upside down and shake them (TO see if condonsation has gotten into them!
if so shake let dry replace and try again!

Have you checked the thermo coupling.

The thermo coupling is the little copper piece that the pilot light flame stays on. If the thermo coupling is not getting the flame of the pilot light the unit will not stay lit. Replace that and that should solve your problem. They are cheap and easy to replace.

A bad rollout sensor will cause that. they are located in front of the burners mounted to the housing of the burners ..if just one goes bad it will fire like yours

Hello, it is possible that even tnough the ignitor is glowing it might be too weak to ignite the burners. I would cneck the resistance of the ignitor with a multmeter, should be between 40-90 ohms typically

Natural gas heater with auto (electric) ignite... The exhaust fan is coming on when the unit is turned on, but it is failing to ignite. I can hear it trying to ignite several times, then it stops. Is...

First make sure your gas is on. If that's not it make sure the pilot tube itself is cleaned out try tapping on the pilot head to remove any build up. The furnace on a call for heat will first start the combustion blower then start the ignition procedure, that first starts the spark igniter or glow plug then timed through the circuit board a short 3 second burst of gas after the 3 second burst if the flame sensor does not sense the flame a short purge cycle runs another 3 second burst of gas and then try's for ignition again. Knowing this the only thing it could be is a gas related problem either no gas or no gas making it to the pilot head or the gas valve itself is not opening so check the gas and the pilot tube if there fine then you're more than likely looking at a new gas valve. Sometimes tapping on the gas valve will free a stuck valve.

Hope this helps and please remember to grade me.......thanks again

What are the carrier 8000ts led error codes?

They are listed inside the front panel of the main unit.

LED CODE

EACH OF THE FOLLOWING STATUS CODES IS A TWO DIGIT NUMBER WITH THE FIRST

DIGIT DETERMINED BY THE NUMBER OF SHORT FLASHES AND THE SECOND DIGIT BY

THE NUMBER OF LONG FLASHES.

STATUS

11 NO PREVIOUS CODE - Stored status code is erased automatically after 72

hours. On RED LED boards stored status codes can also be erased when power

(115 VAC or 24 VAC) to control is interrupted.

12 BLOWER ON AFTER POWER UP (115 VAC or 24 VAC) -Blower runs for 90

seconds, if unit is powered up during a call for heat (R-W closed) or R-W opens

during blower on-delay.

13 LIMIT CIRCUIT LOCKOUT - Lockout occurs if the limit or flame rollout switch is

open longer than 3 minutes.

- Control will auto reset after three hours. - Refer to #33.

14 IGNITION LOCKOUT - Control will auto-reset after three hours. Refer to #34.

21 GAS HEATING LOCKOUT - Control will NOT auto reset.

Check for: - Mis-wired gas valve -Defective control (valve relay)

22 ABNORMAL FLAME-PROVING SIGNAL - Flame is proved while gas valve is

de-energized. Inducer will run until fault is cleared. Check for:

- Leaky gas valve - Stuck-open gas valve

23 PRESSURE SWITCH DID NOT OPEN Check for:

- Obstructed pressure tubing. - Pressure switch stuck closed.

24 SECONDARY VOLTAGE FUSE IS OPEN Check for:

- Short circuit in secondary voltage (24VAC) wiring.

31 PRESSURE SWITCH DID NOT CLOSE OR REOPENED - If open longer than

five minutes, inducer shuts off for 15 minutes before retry. Check for:

- Excessive wind - Proper vent sizing - Defective inducer motor

- Low inducer voltage (115VAC) - Defective pressure switch

- Inadequate combustion air supply - Restricted vent

- Disconnected or obstructed pressure tubing

- Low inlet gas pressure (if LGPS used)

If it opens during blower on-delay period, blower will come on for the selected

blower off-delay.

33 LIMIT CIRCUIT FAULT - Indicates a limit, or flame rollout is open. Blower will

run for 4 minutes or until open switch remakes whichever is longer. If open

longer than 3 minutes, code changes to lockout #13. If open less than 3 minutes

status code #33 continues to flash until blower shuts off. Flame rollout switch

requires manual reset. Check for: - Restricted vent

- Proper vent sizing - Loose blower wheel - Excessive wind

- Dirty filter or restricted duct system.

- Defective blower motor or capacitor. - Defective switch or connections.

- Inadequate combustion air supply (Flame Roll-out Switch open).

34 IGNITION PROVING FAILURE - Control will try three more times before lockout

#14 occurs. If flame signal lost during blower on-delay period, blower will come

on for the selected blower off-delay. Check for: - Control ground continuity

- Flame sensor must not be grounded

- Oxide buildup on flame sensor (clean with fine steel wool).

- Proper flame sense microamps (.5 microamps D.C. min., 4.0 - 6.0 nominal).

- Gas valve defective or gas valve turned off - Manual valve shut-off

- Defective Hot Surface Ignitor

- Low inlet gas pressure

- Inadequate flame carryover or rough ignition

- Green/Yellow wire MUST be connected to furnace sheet metal

45 CONTROL CIRCUITRY LOCKOUT Auto-reset after one hour lockout due to;

- Gas valve relay stuck open - Flame sense circuit failure

- Software check error

Reset power to clear lockout. Replace control if status code repeats.

If status code recall is needed, briefly remove then reconnect one main limit wire to display

stored status code. On RED LED boards do not remove power or blower door before initiating

status code recall. After one status code recall is completed component test will occur.

The exhaust blower starts for about 15 seconds then shuts off. several minutes later, the same thing happens - over and over

goodman furnance the exhaust fan starts, igniter glows hot, all burners lite up & will burn for about a minute and shuts down . I think it senses the room blower does not start so it shuts down.

GMP050-3 heater, gas turns on and lights for 5-7 seconds and just as thr igniter goes dim the gas shuts off. after 3 cycles the erd LED flashes on/off at a 1.5 seconds on and 1.5 sec off Gary

After the gas turns on, it is the flame sensor's job to see that ignition took place and send 24v to the gas valve. If it does not do this, the gas valve shuts down as a safety precaution. After 3 tries, the furnace will go into "lockout" and will not let it attempt to start again. The lockout can be resolved by turning off the power to the furnace for a couple minutes and then turning it back on. Sounds like the real problem is a faulty flame sensor not sending 24v to the gas valve. Sometimes they can be cleaned with a piece of sandcloth. This will cure failure to recognize the flame due to carbon build up on the sensor. Otherwise, the sensor will need to be replaced. Hope this helps!

I have an amana air command 90 furnace. the burner won't light.

This unit goes in steps, 1-- thru--4 Step 1, vent fan blower motor runs & prove thru the air tube, which closes a switch and tells the circuit board to go to step---2 Step 2 lights the glow plug and goes to step 3 automatically, Step 3, opens the gas valve and send in gas thru the long venturi tubes which lights from the glow plug and on the last tube, theres a rod that sticks into the flame, if no flame or not working properly, it will shut down the starting sequences and retry for 4-times and automaticaly lockout till unplug and start over. (whever step it stops at, then thats where your problem is!

Carrier furnace weathermaker 8000

. Several times of recyling power normally brings the furnance up. Though the failure code has always been 31, there are several different behaviour when the blower starts after reset :
a. blower simply creases.
b. there is an attempt to start the heating unit (I hear the high pitch noises), then everything stops.
c. there is an attempt to start the heating unit (I hear the high pitch noises), once I see the orange glow from the coil, normally the gas is lit up and the unit starts working.
