If you are dancing more than once a week for an hour at a time, I suggest you buy a pair of jazz sneakers. This is because regular jazz shoes have absolutely no support. The great thing about the jazz sneaker is that is supports your feet and ankles. This will prevent injury and make your feet feel better at the end of the day.

Dancing shoes to order

I would check out some places that custom make shoes. There are some that do leather soled shoes suitable for dancing. Some people can custom make orthopedic shoes and may not have the experience to do this one!

Do leather or satin ballet shoes last longer?

Leather shoes last the longest. Satin wears out really quickly so ballet dancers only wear satin shoes for performances.

Recommendations for jazz shoes/dance sneakers? want a pair of dance shoes I can use in cold halls, and for outdoor displays in summer. I normally dance barefoot or with capezio half sole sandasols. I've...

bloch are brilliant, depending on where you live, you could go to their shop and tell them what you want and they'll get whats suited to you, they spend ages on you and make sure you get what you looks like its got big cushioning, but it hasnt really, and it really helps you turning and being light on your feet as you dance. if you dont mind amazon then they're cheaper there:
and here's some google shopping results for them:
and finally, here are some other bloch dance sneakers for you to have a look through:
hope i helped, ask if you'd like some more choices or whatever, i got a huge collection of websites and stuff for dance shoes.

Why can not I dance in my normal street shoes? And what shoe size shall I order? My normal street shoe size, bigger or smaller?

Dancing in your normal street shoes is not forbidden (in most places) but by doing so you instantly make it harder for yourself to use your feet properly and put yourself in disadvantaged position. That's because no normal street shoes are so soft as dance shoes and you won't be able to use your feet to the best of their ability. Regarding your second questions -The general answer is: Yes, you should order your normal street size, unless otherwise stated. Some particular shoe models make exception from this rule, but this will be explained when you come across such shoe.
