Hello, to answer your question, it depends. Are you using liquid detergent or powder? How dirty are your clothes? How bulky are your clothes?
For average size clothes and normal dirt I use about a cup of powder. If the clothes are dirty and/or bulky I just hit the "water plus" button. These machines are so efficient you don't want too much soap, just add water.
If your using liquid make sure it's approved for front load washers and use it sparingly. The most I have put in is about half up on the dispensing cup in the washer. Remember to remove this if your using powder. Any more questions just ask. Good luck.

SOURCE: Soap powder remains in the soap compartment

Depending on which compartment the powder is remaining in, it could be low water pressure causing the problem.
If it is taking some down, but not all the powder, then try putting the powder towards the front of the compartment.
If all else fails then I suggest you get one of these dispenser balls that you put straight in the drum with the washing.
Plz rate this solution.
thanks.

Issues with leftover soap and water in soap dispenser when wash is done. Cleaned dispenser and still doing it!!! PLEASE HELP

Remove the soap drawer completely, and wash it in warm water. Clean the roof of the hole where the dispenser drawer is using a plastic pot brush and some hot water. There are holes where the water comes from and they get splashed with soap.

Washer can't remove the soap , and have to wash the clothes handly to clean soap

Remove the soap build up between the wash tub and the outer basin with a fridge or dryer lint brush. The soap accumulates and builds up between the two tubs. Clean it after a recent load of laundry so it has a chance to soften up. Make sure the washer is unplugged when you clean this area.
Use Borax and half the amount of soap in future wash loads to prevent this build up.

LG tromm washer soap not empty after wash cycle

I have a front load He LG Tromm model 2455 HG. I never use more than 3 tablespoons for any load. This soap is so concentrated that is all you need, which really isn't very much. Too much soap could possibly cause foam to back up. Starting with the basics, could this be your problem?

Take a few of your washed towels and start washing them again with no soap or fabric softner. After the washer tumbles a couple minutes pause the machine. You should see no suds at all. I'll bet you see some suds. Suds now indicates there is soap residue in the machine and / or the fabrics. The soap residue in the fabrics is what is causing most of the odor and the poor cleaning. The problem is too much soap and / or fabric softner. Remember, the old top load washer you had before used about 40 to 45 gallons of water for an extra large load. Your LG uses about 12. First thing to do is clean the washer using a package (three tablets) of "Ah Fresh" washer cleaner, using the tub clean cycle if your model has it, or if it does not have that cycle, use the hottest, longest cycle, + stain setting option. Second, wash all the clothes again without using soap or fabric softener. Third, from now on, use a maximum of a tablespoon of HE (even less if it is 2x concentrated) soap and one teaspoon of fabric softener. Hint: If you rinse well before you towel off your towels are only wetted with clean water. They are not dirty. If you wash them, try washing with no soap.

Washing machine code OE

It means that the washing machine drain is clogged or has soap in it. Pull out the washer and clean the drains and then it should work properly. Also make sure that you are using HE soap only if the drain has excess amounts of soap (that other non HE soaps have) it will also clog the drains

LG WM2277HS - water backing up into soap dispenser

The pipe from the soap dispenser to the tub is quite large, it seems as if the water isn't getting out of the dispenser quick enough. Pull the whole dispenser out of the machine. There is a release clip at the back of the cup with the tray fully open. Clean out all soap residue and scum. Sometimes there is also a spot or setting for liquid or powder detergent. Adjust accordingly. Reassemble and try it again.

You are probably using too much soap. You also need to make sure you're using HE detergent. To test this run the washer empty (no soap) and if you see bubbles inside that's left over soap that's still in the unit. If so, keep running it empty until the bubbles are gone then start using only about 1 tablespoon of soap per load. The washer uses about 1/10 of the water so you need to use 1/10 of the soap. Use the same amount of softner.

LG front loader problem

If you remove the top cover you will see the soap dispenser unit on the left. It has a large rubber hose connecting it to the drum. If you remove two screws at the front you can free the dispenser for maintenance. You can undo the clips on the various hoses and check that they are clean.

Some people report some dripping from the soap dispenser even when the hose is unblocked. This seems to be a design fault.
