Question about DeLonghi Magnifica Coffee Makers & Espresso Machines
Our coffee maker has stopped grinding the beans it makes a knocking noise instead, and the beans jump around in the hopper - but don't fall through to the grinder and grind. It works find with a scoop of pre-ground coffee, but that's not the point. The same problem happened about a year ago, and we sent it off under warranty - but it's nearly 2 years old now, so I'm reluctant to pay to post it off just to get a quote to fix it. Does anyone know what might cause it - could I fix it myself - or how much might it cost to get done? Many thanks

Sometimes the chamber between the grinder and brewer will clog up. Try: Open the grind all the way up to the highest number. Push the grind button and while grinding move the dose knob (the one with the + - sign toward minus. If it does not kick in and dose try it again. If it does take off then leave it on the high number for 3 coffees. Then while the grinder is turning move the two knobs back to whre they were. If this does not work you can reomve the brew unit and right above where it sits in the machine there is a trap door that you can open. Open it and shove someting like a straw up toward the grinder and you should get a bunch of grounds droppiing down. Then try the above procedure a couple more times. If this does not work you may need to google "Saeco repair" and send it to an authorized repair center.

SOURCE: My Saeco won't grind the beans
There's moisture in the grinder & it's clogged - just dismantle the grinder & clean it, then ensure you don't splash water into the bean hopper when you fill the water tank.

The chute is clogged or the grind is too fine on the machine. To clean chute remove the brew unit and check to the right, clean chute.

SOURCE: ground coffee will not dispense
The beans are hanging up in the hopper and not falling down into the grinder...... wiggle it, give the beans a push, or go to a bean that is not so sticky....
