I think wood is just fine for a cutting board, especially if you take care of it and treat it with a food safe mineral oil. Never put them in a dishwasher, only keep use mild soap and don't soak them in water. Dry them quickly and treat them often. Most cutlery companies suggest wood boards first, I know mine does, and I have Shun knives. Certain plastic boards would could ruin my knives.

I think plastic is the best. Wood harbors bacteria, glass ruins your knives. Plastic ones can be cleaned well and they even can go in the dishwasher.

Cutting Drywall Like a Pro

Cutting drywall is one of the more easy cuttings that you will do when remodeling your house although you hear all kinds of horror stories of people making huge mistakes and having to re-hang drywall or use exorbitant amounts of putty to fix mistakes. Following just a few simple tips you can master the task of cutting drywall.

Most of the cuts that you will be doing will fall under the category of score, snap, cut. Because dry wall is fairly easy to cut, for a majority of cuts you will just need a scoring knife with just enough pressure to cut the paper and then you will be able to snap the drywall then you have to cut the paper on the back side and you are done.

For the major cutouts that you will be doing like doors and windows, the best way to go about doing them is to measure and cut the boards before you hang them. Its best to have someone help you hold the board in place.

There are two main types of saws that you will use a drywall rip saw and a keyhole saw. They each have their purpose and they should only be used for the purposes that they are meant for. The keyhole saw is for small cuts like holes for light fixtures, outlets and switches while the rip saw is for cutting drywall down to size like for doors and windows.

Once you have mastered the basics of cutting drywall you will be able to do more advanced home repairs and will spend less time worrying about cutting out pieces of drywall.

While watching went to green horizontal green squiggles lines. cut off let cool down. cut on worked 6 wks. cut off cool down worked 2 days. cut off cool down worked 1 hour.

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.
To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

Double Horse 9053 Volitation Gyro cuts out

Most likely a fault with the PCB circuit board and needs replacing. Also check the motors and rotors are running freely as this could also cause the PCB to trip off.

Kind regards, julian.

Due to hot weather one of my pine boards on my deck is oozing a sticky resign eaven though deck has bee stained and painted is there any way to seal this goo?

No, that would be kind of like trying to seal an open jar of honey - no sealer would be strong enough to overcome the softness underneath. Your best bet is to replace the bad section of the board. Cut out the bad section just up to the support joists, then nail a sister joist (or just a short 2x4) onto the sides of the joists so that the ends of you new section are supported. Or you could just replace the entire length of the board. As a temporary measure, put duct tape over the sticky stuff so that it doesn't get tracked all over the place. By the way, that stick resin is pine sap. The best solvent for cleaning it off your shoes and hands is turpentine.

Cutting chamfer on oak wood

One way to do it is to use a table saw, with the blade cranked over at an angle, feeding the piece through upright, with the flat against the fence instead of down against the table surface. You can make a very shallow angled cut in this way, and it's accuracy is improved through the use of fingerboards to hold the work against the fence.
If you have a router table with a fence on it, you can set up a panel raising bit and do a fairly shallow cut on the edge of your threshold, but probably not as deep (from the edge) as on a table saw. (Probably only about 1 1/2" vs up to 3").
The most laborious method, but fairly simple, is to make some kind of sled-like jig for the router that will span the width x2 of your board, then mount the board on a large flat surface at the desired angle, and use a flat bottomed bit to essentially plane the board by hand, sliding the router back and forth from end to end, moving it over to make the next pass, and so forth. Slow & dusty, but effective nevertheless.
Here's a link I found with pictures of something like what I was thinking of. Router planing jig
Whichever method you choose, expect to have to dress the cuts with a belt sander to smooth out the machine marks.
If what you're after is a simple 45 degree chamfer, just buy a chamfer bit with a bearing, and if you wish to take more cut than the thickness of your workpiece allows, screw another board flush to the edge underneath to guide the bearing against while you make your cut.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
