Dubbing from DVD to HDD

I own a Philips DVDR3575H DVD player/recorder with built-in hard drive for recording. The instructions say to dub from a dvd to the hdd, simply insert the dvd go into the settings and it will give you the option to dub. However the dub button is greyed out and cannot be selcted. After looking through the instruction manual, it seems the only video type it will support is Divx. After converting my video files to divx the internal menu doesn't change (dub button is still greyed out) What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

Apparently this problem can't be fixed. I called Philips and they offered me a "buy back" since there is no fix for this problem. "If" the disk is not finalized you can do it but otherwise the choice is grayed out. Hope this helps.

You did get this from me but, if you are trying to dub a protected dvd, the dub option will be greyed out. Non-elegant solution: use another device to play the dvd and run it as input into the DVDR. You won't have the menu items but you will have the video.

How can I record from dvd to vcr? Is that possible?

Yes! Just be sure to use the remote, and when you enter "General" features... Look for recording, or Dubbing. Under dubbing... It should allow you to choose which way you wan the recording to go. For example, VHS>DVD or DVD>VHS... Then, install the blank in one side, the movie in the other, and hit the "Dubbing" RECORD button. this should work. Also, most companies now have their documentation, even for very old units, online should you need the instruction manual which originally came with your unit. Good luck!

I have a Magnavox H2160MW9 A. It has a dubbing feature and says I can copy from HDD to DVD. But when I follow the instructions "Selected Title Dubbing", The dubbing selection is grayed out. Note that I'm...

Choose Dub on remote. Choose HDD to DVD. When you are looking at your HDD Titles, move the cursor (the highlighted box, using the left/right buttons on your remote) to the title you want to Dub. Hit the OK button on your remote. Then hit the Dubbing button on your remote. If you are ready to record, move cursor down to Start Dubbing. Choose speed, then hit OK button.

Hello, when dubbing from DV mini tape to HDD

well one solution may be the speed you are recording at. L.P. recording on a dvd often creates this problem. but usually it is when you copy dvd to dvd, not mini dvd to dvd
Never record more than 2 hrs on a disk
there are programs for a work around that reprocess the dvd vob file with adjustments for the sync.
could also be a hardware problem
is your mini dv long play source as well?

Cheers
Dave

I have a Magnavox ZV427MG9. I follow all directions in manual for dubbing VHS home movies to DVD but when I try to play the DVD back there's nothing on them. What am I doing wrong?

Depending on the procedure you may be pressing the record button instead of the D.Dubbing or Dubbing button. When recording from VHS to DVD you must first, load the blank DVD and VHS home movies, then play the VHS movies, then PAUSE the VHS movie when you want to START recording... then the only the you have to do is pressing the D.Dubbing button or the Dubbing button. If your VHS tapes starts to play after the Dubbing button is pressed you have been successful in Dubbing.

Will not dub to dvd-r from HDD in high speed mode

It will only high speed dub in the speed it was recorded in. You can dub, for example, SP on your hard drive to SP on a DVD. You cannot dub high speed, for example, SP on your hard drive to LP on a DVD.
