Question about ViewSonic VA902 19" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

I have a ViewSonic VA902b. My wife was using the computer last night. Turned it off before she went to bed, got up this morning and it will not turn on. Is this possibly a lamp issue and is it replacable or I have to buy a brand new monitor after less than 2 years?

Plugged in another monitor and the old one works fine. No issues. Tried plugging the dead one in to other places. Will not turn on. As if there was no power at all going to it. It will soon become one with my garbage can.

You can't assume anything with computers, it may be 1 of several possibilities. Your wife may have downloaded something like mine does, and not even realised it. It also may be a virus that she opened in an email or chat that may have infected the machine. Or it may be a bad video driver. Do you have another monitor to try, and at least we may eliminate that from the picture. If it was the monitor, And I have a few viewsonics myself, it would be very rare that it would blow out with no prior signs. That's why I doubt that it is the monitor.you can do a system restore by hitting the following , Start, programs, accesorys, system tools, system restore, and go back to the closest restore point that you have, like the day before the problem occured, that should fix it unless it was a hardware issue, try that first, good luck, and let us know how you made out

Ok it's the main power board, viewsonic will fix it for free if you call them, you need an rma. I had one like that 2ms, and although it was just passed the warranty period, they sent me an rma to print, then they lost the monitor, lol. I ended up getting a new one for free. life is funny that way, the downside is that it cost me $70 to pack and ship it, so for $70 I got a new monitor.

VA902b Viewsonic monitor just went black this morning while working. Tried updating driver. Reboot. Does display during startup and goes black again. Monitor problem or hardware? I have 2 monitors.

The best thing to do to isolate the problem is to connect the problem monitor into a known working CPU. If the same problem occur, then the problem is the monitor. You may need to check if the power light (LED) is blinking or no light at all.

If there's no light, you may start replacing the power cable if the cable is detachable. But if it's built-in to the monitor, then send it to the authorized repair shop. They need to check if the panel is shot.

Thank you and good luck!
