Samsung u600 speaker not working

The speaker on my samsung u 600 does not appear to be working.
All other functions seem fine, I just can't hear anybody on calls, the ring is not audible and I can't hear any music from it.

Can I fix it ?

i have exactly the same problem.

what happened first was the alarm stopped sounding.

Then i started having trouble with incoming calls.

No the speakers don't work at all. I have to use a headset to make and receive calls.

I have a similar problem, only I can hear the caller but they cannot hear me! Is there a setting to change this? - my 1 year old has been tampering with my phone! - or is it just broken?????

No more sound for incoming call, ringtone, alarm, mp3... speaker just failed! Used it for barely 20 months. My old Nokia phone lasts for years...

Samsung Sgh-a737 speaker not working

A very similar problem on a U600 was posted here. Maybe your ribbon cable is (partly) broken as well. When you slide the phone 'open', some copper tracks on the ribbon cable don't seem to make contact. When you close it again (or at least a bit), the tracks make contact again. After a while, the rip in the ribbon cable gets bigger and eventually, the tracks won't make contact anymore when your phone is closed again. I'm NOT a reseller of any kind, but I think you'll need a replacement for your cable. I had similar problems with my U600 and after the replacement it works just fine.

I had this problem and just fixed it via my Orange mobile website. Find the area for Multimedia messaging problems. Key in your phone number on your support page and they give you a pin number. They then send you installation instructions to your mobile. Key in the PIN and follow the instructions. Works fine now. Your provider's help pages will hopefully use this same method?

Take the battery out, and with a small watch makers screw driver unscrew the 4 screws you see and their is another two at the end under the cover which you need to pull off. But don't worry as it sticks on.

under the bottom half there is a connection which may have come loose as its only a simple push in clip which tend to come loose.
