SMART is a set of indicators of hard drive failure, when one or more of these indicators surpass certain level, the computer assumes hard disk useful life is getting to an end, follow the recommendation, back up all your important files, and use the hard disk until it's not functional anymore, then you'll have to replace the hard drive and reinstall the operative system and your backed up files.

Tips for a great answer:
Hard drive is bad or is going to fail soon.
Backup your information and contact the maunufacturer of the computer or the hard drive for replacement or additional help.
In some very rare cases the S.M.A.R.T. implementation on your computer may have issues of its own and may need to be patched before replacing the hard drive.
If I am receiving the S.M.A.R.T. error, is it ok if I continue to use my hard drive and do not replace it?
As stated above, S.M.A.R.T. is designed to detect upcoming failures in the hard drive.
While it is possible that the hard drive may not fail for several months, it is still inevitable that the hard drive will fail.
It is ok to continue to use the hard drive, however, we highly recommend that if you are still under warranty that you consider getting the drive replaced before your warranty runs out.
hope this helps

one bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive
Test the leads that attach to your ((hard drive from the motherboard)) or replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your ((motherboard to hard drive))
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they are probably old and faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error
hope this helps
