I have 2 lines comming down from the top of my tv, one comes down and seems to round a round about. line are about 1mm wide, one comes all the wat down the other stops 1/2 way.
Is my tv fixable ? or do i need a new one ?
If the coloured lines are in the edges, then there is absolutely no problem and it should not be visible from a viewing range of 1.5 meters and further. If the lines are in the middle of the screen, then your phosphor coating (the screen) is burnt. you need to buy a new one, since burnt screens are not repairable.

there seems to be a problem in the horizontal circuit...there is a control on the flyback transformer that is labeled "screen". (you'll have to take the back off) The flyback is the component that looks sort of round with the red high voltage lead coming out the top and connecting to the top of the picture tube.On the back of the flyback there will be 2 or 3 controls if 2 there will be 1 focus and 1 screen, if 3 there are 2 focus and 1 screen..using an insulated flat blade screwdriver, slowly turn the screen control counterclockwise to see if this will make the lines go away...if not then there is a horizontal cicuit fault and quit possibly a pincushion problem(hourglass effect)..these will need to be checked by a service shop
Your TV has vertical fold problem. Just check all the electrolytic capacitors. On checking, most of them may look good. But on circuit, when energised, will show problems. So it is best to replace all of them once and check. Please check the electrolytic capacitor connected to the vertical power supply [usually comes from the secondary supply section of the Line Output Transformer], first, and replce it. It may be a 1500Mfd or 2200mfd. Check it first by replacing a new one. In most foldover cases, this service will solve the problem. email@example.com
Hi I had the same problem. Broken white lines across the top of the screen. This is called overscan. You need to go into the Setup menu, other settings. 16:9 overscan needs to be on. Hope this helps. It solved our problem.
I wouldn't attempt as the capacitors on a tv store around 25000 volts this is more than enough to kill you and they keep there charge even when the tv is off. Either take it to a repair shop or put that money towards buying a new tv - Do not even attempt to open the tv. (It sounds like maybe a tube has gone or the electromagnet that makes the beam move vertically is gone.
Some components in the vertical deflection amp have been going out of spec with age.
The set may no longer be worth to spend money to service it because of its age. However, if you wanted to invest the money, the set is serviceable. Considering its age, the CRT may be soft, and there are many other older components that can soon fail.
My LG tv has suddenly got a problem with the picture. Whilst watching the tv with no problems at all,
the picture was suddenly reduced to a thin vertical line down the centre of the screen
and an awful smell seemed to come from the tv
There is a short ckt in your tv in horl. section.
1 isolate power from horizontal section.
2 check for normal output from power supply.
3 check parts in horl output section
a hor.output transistor
b diode & cap in h/output trnsformerckt.
c check for print.
d if all are ok check for eht transformer.
e if every thing becomes then reconnect hor output section supply.
f put on the set.
