Download a free hard disc eraser program erase the disc space, you do not need wd`s software. then reformat the drive from vista choose ntfs format

The system is slowing down when I use WD 500 GB ...

Hi mortonwood12. it could be two things. 1.- you have way too much information on that drive and 2.- either the enclosure or the hard drive is going bad. (Sorry to be this harsh). What I recommend is get another hard drive and backup all your data "pronto"!. Then remove the hard drive from the enclosure (it could be a little tricky) and then trying connecting the hard drive internally. If you still have the same problem, then it's the hard drive. Dont use it anymore. I wont get any better. I hope this helps and please dont forget to rate and provide positive feedback for our free support today. Thank you :D

Problem with WD 1.5TB external hard drive

This appears to be a common occurrence with the My Book. It may be a heat dissipation problem from leaving the unit on for longer than it takes to back up your data.

I think you might need technical support from Western Digital. Do you have an alternate backup?

PROBLEMS WITH MY WD BOOK

Hi, This post might be of some help/idea... http://www.fixya.com/support/t191153-device_recognized The only difference is your model uses Western Digital and not Seagate. Yours can still be recognized but Windows consider it non-formatted. First try a data recovery software and another storage medium where you can copy the files if you're successful in the recovery. Good luck and kind regards.

WD Western Digital mybook premium edition

Google is your friend... I found the WD website and browsed for the model you said. I found the installation guide and looked it over. You might want to do the same. You can also contact the company via the website to either download the software or order it from them Product page: http://www.wdc.com/en/products/extmatrix.asp Guide: http://www.wdc.com/en/library/dual-option/2079-001072.pdf
