Sony TV Won't Come On

I have a Sony KV-36XBR250 Tv, made in 2000. LAst time I trued to use the TV, the power "flashed" on, then it went dead. I cannot get it to do anything now, either from the remote or from the TV itself. I confirmed that there is power to the TV. ANy ideas?

NOTHING happens when I hit the "power" button on both the remote and the TV.

It looks like the fuse is blown. I can't quite read the number on the fuse, though. Any idea what the fuse part number is? Looks like BUSS GDC on the glass part and T63AL 250V on the metal end, but when I google that, nothing shows up.

THANKS. I'll let you know if it works.

The 5A 250 V fuse solved the problem. THANKS!!! It saved me several hundred dollars for a service call for the TV. The SONY is designed well - it was easy to take the back off the TV to replace the fuse.

5A 250 volt fuse would be fine to test TV and fuse would be available in local repair / part shop.
If fuse blow off again, then TV has problem in Power supply section and requires qualified TV tech.

Unplug TV from AC outlet and if you are comfortable to open back cover of TV then check fuse in power supply which might blow off. upon replacement of fuse, replug in AC and check.

Check whether the filament of CRT glow or not. If not, check all the solder terminals at the CRT base card. If it glows, check all the voltages at the video output card, said above. Try connecting the TV directly to a different wall outlet and check. If the issue persists, try power resetting the TV. Turn Off the TV and remove the power plug from the wall outlet for 1 minute and reconnect it and check the operation. If the issue persists, then the TV requires service.

Did you get your set fixed or did you replace it? My same set did the same thing. Turned it off for 2-3hrs after watching it and when I tried to power it up- nothing but the sound it would normally make just before the major power up, sort of a relay click sound. No picture or sound but the red light blinks non-stop.

Sony Wega Kv-36XBR250 screen blinking

I have seen this flashing before, this could be an indication that the picture tube is weak, what happens is that if the white balance is off there is a circuit called akb it monitors the kathode of each gun and if they are not in balance it will attempt to balance it out. if it can't the picture will begin to flash, sometimes in some models the power light will blink 5 times. On some models the power light will only flash if the tv gives up trying to compinsate for white balance and shuts off compeletely. If you see the tv shutting off with 5 blinks then you know for sure it is time for a new set.

Sony Wega Triniton KV-32FS100 TV

For the last week my TV has been going to a black screen for 10 seconds or so then the picture returns. It has been continual. Last night it stopped going to black screen, but now the standby light flashes 5 consecutive times and the color went haywire. A lot of red and everything that is suppose to be black is green.

I did a soft and hard reset with no success. What's wrong and is it worth fixing? Bought new in November 2002.

Blinking picture

TV Repairman came out today to look at my Sony KV-36XBR250 today with the exact same problem - he was able to adjust the settings through the service menu, but said it was a temporary fix only.

The picture tube is going and the Sony circuitry has a "video mute" that it uses when it senses the tube is not warmed up enough. The degraded state of the tube causes the blinking on and off as the signal from the tube wavers.

He ballpark estimated the tube replacement cost well above the price for replacing the set with a 37" LCD, so it's going to the dump...
