Question about RCA DVD.8312N DVD Recorder / VCR Combo
I SEE YOUR SOLUTION BUT FINDING A TECH TO FIX IT IS ANOTHER THING. HERE IN NORTHERN CA. NEED TO FIND SOMEONE. ALSO APPROX. WHAT SHOULD I PAY FOR THIS TYPE OF REPAIR? WHAT'S FAIR? KIND REGARDS... CAPT. WILL...
You can use www.TVRepairPros.com which is NESDA (National Electronic Service Dealers Association) list of all members across the US... It's like using the AMA to find a qualified doctor... You'll even find me on that list if you were searching Long Beach WA.
As for the cost it varies according to location and parts distribution. Best is to ask for an estimate first and you can cut some costs by taking the unit to them rather than having them come to you...
Hope this helps!
Let me know...

If your machine was having the same problem mine was having, all that was needed was replacing a blown capacitor on the main power board (I think it's location C226). Cost for parts: $0.40 for a new capacitor. Time: If you know what you're doing with a soldering iron, you can replace it yourself with very little fuss. Got the board put back in the machine after putting the new capacitor on, and my stuck tape popped right back out.
