Question about Betty Crocker BPL-825U 12-Cup Coffee Maker

Betty crocker mod.bpl 825u

Sir. On the back side of the water return nozzle theres a small slot, water is now spewing out of that slot, rather than all coming out of the nozzle, and running out the back of the pot. It looks like something should be plugged in this slot, My mother never keeps any owners manuals on anything, she's 90! Can you help?

your correct as to its location,I'm wondering why it emits from this
slot, the 6 holes for the water are NOT plugged up. This pot is less
than a year old. I guess one has to consider where it was made!! But
    where would you buy American??

  • dnehrk Jan 24, 2009

Sir; First, thank you for your help on this pot problem. As far as
being around in 30 or 40 yrs, highly unlikely, but America won't be
here either, America is at the end of it's rope, sure, we've been
through hard times before, look at the years 1929 and on in the 30's, We
got through that, but it's not going to be this time. Labor unions and
enviromentalists have ruined this country. Unions were good a hundred
years ago, but got greedier and greedier, until wages were out of
sight, where companys had to outsource for cheaper labor.Alot of
america is already owned by foreign interests, I'm glad I'm not going
    to be here. Thanks again.

That slot is no accident; don't attempt to plug it. If it is where you describe it being, it would stop hot water from spitting out elsewhere in case the nozzle is blocked.

If it is where they are normally found, at the back of the water reservoir, it was provided to prevent water from finding its way into the lower section and possibly creating a path for dangerous voltages present and not well protected in the base of the unit.
Even if there is no possible way for water to migrate down to the bottom, it could then run out through the front of the unit, making even a bigger mess.
Most coffee-makers have this overflow opening in the back.

But where would you buy American??

Unless you are going to be around for ~30-40 more years, you won't.
We will start manufacturing appliances of this kind in the US again once all of the 'cheap labor' markets can afford to live as we do (or did).
We will have then, become the 'cheap labor market.'

While this is not the venue for philosophical thoughts, any time a nation stops turning raw materials into value-added products, it will decline.
    That is us.
We are to the world at large, what Social Security recipients are to the nation; on the dole.

The only thing with which I would disagree, is that the nation may not survive.

My hot pot wont turn on,,its like new and rarely been used

I've got a Betty Crocker BC-1762 Hot Pot that also won't turn on. There's a connection between the switch and the heating element (encased in a piece of white thermal tubing) that includes an SF152E thermal fuse that tests open. These are available for a buck apiece or so. Replacing it might be tricky, because the fuse is crimped into the circuit, not soldered.

Why am i getting grounds in my coffee water is over flowing in filter ????????

If There is an Excess Amount of Sediment in Brewed Coffee:
  • The filter may be torn. If a cloth filter is used, it may be worn, the weave of the material may be too loose, or the thread count is too low.
  • The grind may be too fine for the filter device.
  • Softened water may have been used.

Machine is spewing grounds into the cup

This is usually an overfill of grounds or the water distribution nozzle is not distributing the water correctly. First, put no coffee in the unit. Just fill a cup w/hot water. If it still is putting out grounds, the upper basket has coffee grounds stuck in the nozzle. If you get no grounds, try reducing the amount of coffee used.
