Unable to connect ipod touch to home network

Home network: WRTG54 Linksys
Secure: WEP key
I have inputted the WEP key, the ipod is telling me that I am connected but when I try to open the browser, itunes or stocks, it tells me that I am not connected to the internet. Apple customer service troubleshooted with me and told me to send it back. I did and they are now telling me everything works well. Still can't connect to my network. What am I not doing???

SOURCE: Unable to connect ipod touch to home network

Sounds like an I.P. problem. If set to "Dynamic", try "Static" IP. Had a similar problem with my Linksys wireless camera. It worked...than it didn't. Sounds eerily similar.

I have no problem in connecting my nokia e72 to my home network.i need it to connect to other wirelessnetworks which are available when i go out of my home.when i try to connect other networks it is...

The wireless networks are made secure by using the wep key.
The wep key was set in the wireless router. If you like to use the wireless networks you have to get the wep key from the person who administer wireless router.
Once you got the key you can connect it to the internet .
Thanks

I want to connect my wii to the internet but i dont know the WEP key

You should not be using WEP, it is not secure. If you can, you should use WPA2.
To get your password/key, log on to your router / wireless/ security and set/find your password/key

Cannot get a second computer on my secure wireless network

Have you set the properties on the second computer to match the security expected by the router? Since one computer works I would compare the settings for the network connection and set the second computer to the same.

Can't connect my Ipod touch to my router?

You must be sure to what router you are trying to connect. I understand you have a ZyXel and a linksys. You must have 2 wireless networks. Your wireless network must be secured, so you just have to use the correct password. I need more details. Try this http://technicalsupport.blog.friendster.com

Can't connect my Ipod touch to my router?

did you setup a wireless network ? if you didnt go to control panal and then wireless network setup icon and follow instructions (select automatically provide network key option) then follow instructions and finish. once you did that, search through wifi on youf phone it should find your WNetwork and then connect and enjoy. if you want to use internet and have an ADSL modem, make sure that the modem is connected to the internet RJ45 plug on your router. and from router to PC.

good luck, i hope this helps

Can't connect my router to my Ipod touch?

ok do this if it is already showing your router up on your portable device but it has that security lock and you are unable to join or need a password which u dont know lol go to that network and on the top push forget this network. than go back and click on for other location. than for the name put in your router name usually 5 characters long make sure u use capitalization cuz its case sensitive. than select what kind of key u have it should say right on the side of your wireless router. than type the key in usually a wep key and u should be set to join it if it doesnt auto matically do soo

Connecting Ipod touch 8(GB) to Wi-fi

After fighting with this for the last couple of hours I have my ipod touch working with the netgear DG834G(v3) router. The fix is a bit odd and I am not entirely sure why it works but I thought I would share and hopefully it might help you out …

First I think that the WEP encryption simply does not work between these two devices and causes some very strange behaviour – the WEP 'authentication type' setting I had on the 'wireless settings' page was set to 'shared key' – I flicked this to 'automatic' & strength to ‘128 bit’ - hit apply and finally I found I was able to connect without an error message (after inputting the correct WEP key). Unfortunately the DHCP did not work correctly after this and I kept receiving IP addresses in the range of 169.254.x.x (an internal default) rather than my networks expected 192.168.0.x range. The Ipod touch couldn’t find any DNS servers or connect to the internet.

To get round this I set the router ‘security options’ to use WPA instead (WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key)) instead of WEP. Set the new WPA password at the bottom of the wireless settings page - again hit apply - and configured the ipod to use the new password and WPA PSK instead of WEP. This worked fine – although it does mean I have to change the settings on all my other wireless devices around the house!

The weird thing is that although the router isn’t using WEP encryption changing the 'authentication type' setting back to ‘shared key’ in the WEP menu breaks the WPA connection again – very odd? I blame netgear and their obviously crazy wep code :)
