I had the same issue. I replaced the bulb but it would not power up. I held the Power and Menu buttons down for 10 seconds and both TEMP & LAMP light came on and stayed that way. I had to unplug the power. Then I plugged the Power Cable back in and held the Power button & the Source button down for about 10 seconds. The fan started and it came up normally.

Hello, many of times this is related to the brighter being turned down and we go about trying to turn up the unit thru the remote and you may need to do this adjustment directly from the panel on the unit.
If this should fail, you may need to unplug the unit and allow it to be off for over 24 hours and this will cause the unit memory to return back to the manufacture's settings and if you still get the same result, consider your lamp may have played out, need to be replace... good luck and I hope thi helps.

Optoma ep 1690, the on/standby led is flashing green but when I try to turn it on the temp and lamp led's flash twice and nothing happens, the on/standby continues to flash green.

The projector lamp life may have exceeded its safe limit, check your instruction manual, sometimes you have to hold the on or off button for 10 seconds to reset this. All manufacturers are different but that may be the problem.

Here is a copy of the manual, I havn't read it, my solution is from experience of other projectors.

Yes, if bulb was low price and was installed in old lamp casing then it is bulb that is not good and creating too much heat that exhaust fan can't throw out to make projector cool enough so temp sensor activates and send over heat signal to system control chip thus projector shuts down.
Please install original lamp that comes with casing to solve this issue.
If lamp was original then check exhaust fan that might be running slowly due to stiffness in bearing so temp sensor finds over temp in projector.
Hope these info will help you.
Thanks.

After being on for a while sometimes 10 minutes, smoetimes 2 hours, the projection loses color and flickers, I can hear a squeeling noise, and eventually shuts down

Mine does the exact same thing, but usually before it overheats and shuts off. This started after I replaced the lamp the third time. I haven't found an outside solution to this, but pointing a floor fan at it to keep it cooler works for me. Did you ever find a resolution?

reset the lamp timer. if you don't hear a high-pitched whir when you turn it on, the colorwheel is bad. could also be the ballast. worst case, the main board. if it is under warranty, send it in.

Light does not come on -- we replaced the bulb--still dark

Sounds like the lamp timer has reached it's limit. In your users manual you will find the proceedure on replacing the lamp and reseting the timer. Once this is done the projector should work.

We have an optoma ep739. when you turn the lamp on, a message 'fan failure' comes on. the fan is running at what appears to be a slow speed. the red temp light goes on and then the lamp turn off.

Hi there

Try cleaning out the fan by blowing it out with a compressor. Most of the time this is only caused by dust.

If the problem stil occurs , try spraying it on the inside with a lubricant.

If the problem stil occurs you will have to replace the faulty fan.

Very cheap to have replaced.
