There might be a SAP button on the remote or under a cover on the remote, or it might be an audio button, you want Main or Stereo. I couldnt pull up a picture of the remote, but I would suspect that if the SAP function is not in the menu it is probably on the remote.

Brand new, connected to new cox cable box, video works great but no sound

if just running HDMI cable try adding audio cables too, check all your volume and mute settings in the system setup.
If you have audio on most channels, but have silence on some or all of your local network channels, you may have the Secondary Audio Programming (SAP) turned ON. Complete the following steps to turn off SAP.
  1. Press the Settings or MENU button on the digital remote.

    Result: The Settings screen displays.
  2. Choose from the following options.
If... Then... Disable SAPdisplays Press the Select button. Choose SAP Languagedisplays Use the left or right arrow buttons to choose the English setting and press Select. PREFERENCESdisplays Scroll to the Language option, select Audio, then select the option labeled Primary or the one labeled English. If the above quick fix doesn't work, there may be a problem with MTS, Stereo, or another SAP issue. Try the following:
  • Verify in the program listing guide that the program has MTS, Stereo, or SAP features.
  • Check to see if the MTS, STEREO or SAP light on the TV or VCR is on.
If the light is not on, try the following:
  • Push the MTS, STEREO, or SAP button on the TV or VCR.
  • Adjust the fine tuning on the TV set to restore the stereo or SAP.

I would like to remove the voice over settings on my TV but unsure how please can you help? The make of the TV is Technika. Thank You

You probably have the second audio program (SAP) turned on. Return to the initial set up procedure and disable SAP.

No sound on 73mate

If just one channel the problem could be either on a box or the set--look in audio menu for SAP---secondary audio program---if SAP engaged it will blank the sound except for SAP program.

Also check if using a box that sound is not muted on the one channel--a lot of boxes also have this option.

The set is not smart enough to know what channel you are on so it has to be a setting somewhere either in its or a box menu.

There is no sound from the unit. I have no remote but it says it is in sap mode. can I correct this?

SAP means "Separate Audio Program" - usually SAP mode is for changing the language of the broadcast (i.e. from English to Spanish) and is also used to enhance the sound broadcast of some programs.

Not having a remote may make this difficult.... you need to find a way into the set's menu- some sets have a "menu" button on them..... some require two buttons be held down together.... look at the set carefully.... if you have the manual, it is a good time to look at it.

When you get into the menu, find the AUDIO menu and de-select SAP. Your sound should be restored.

If you cannot get into the menu, you will need a remote. Write down the brand and model of your set, go to a decent electronics store, and browse the "universal remotes". Find one that supports your set and follow the instructions to set it up for your television. You will then be able to access the menu and turn off SAP.

No sound on some channels, other channels fine

Your SAP/MTS function is most likely turned on. This feature has 3 modes: Stereo, Mono and SAP. Stereo and Mono are easy to understand, it's the SAP that can get you. SAP stands for Second Audio Production. It is used to provide weather, information or an additional language translation of a program. Some broadcasters simply transmit the mono audio over the SAP audio channel when the are not using it for other purposes. Other broadcasters simply do not use it, which does not give you any audio. Look on your remote for a SAP or MTS button. If you do not see one, look in your TV user menu for this feature. If you are using a cable box, look in the audio menu of the cable box. You are looking for something set to SAP... just change it to STEREO. I hope this was helpful.

I have an audio problem LC-26d43u

What's "everything"?? Have you looked at the audio menu to see if you were on SAP (second audio program).. Being in SAP could affect one or more channels that do not broadcast in SAP mode.

Sharp Liquid Crystal TV - Flat Screen - 1.5 years old

Go into the menu and under AUDIO and make sure that the sound is set to STEREO, and not SAP (second audio program). If you have a separate setting for SAP then shut it off.
