Question about Printers & Copiers

1 Answer

HP product assistant

An 'HP Product assistant window keeps popping up and will not close down when I try to close it. It's been happening the last three days when I've been printing alot. The second window then pops up stating that I need an installation CD to re-install something!!! What is causing this? I have the same problem, but I have the C7250 Photosmart Printer Can I use the above steps to rid it of it. I also had Best Buy look at it and they told me they had gotten rid of it at the tune of $200 and it wasn't there. However, I went to open the Solution Center and then it popped up again. I had planned to uninstall and reinstall the printer, but have not done that yet.

I have a cd for hp photosmart c3180 for windows xp but every time I try to install it, I keep on getting an installation error message msi.docproc

I had the same issue with my HP printer but a different model #. Try inserting the installation CD and then close any window it pops up, if it pops up. Go to My Computer and then right click on the CD and go to browse. Look for the install file that should called Setup or named something else but ends with .exe and double click it. If you're not seeing it then go to the link below and try downloading and installing the software. Click on the link, click on Driver - Product Installation Software, and click on HP Photosmart Full Feature Software and Driver and follow the promps.

My name is Joyan Mathews. I need latest/updated driver files for my HP 640 C printer to work in Microsoft Windows 7 operating system. From where can I upload the HP 640 c driver for my home use.

The drivers for your HP product are already included in the new Windows 7 operating system! You do not need to download drivers to use the product. Keep reading to learn how to install the drivers that are included in Windows 7 (in-OS drivers) with your HP product. With the Windows 7 driver, the buttons on the product might not function and some of the advanced product features are not available. However, using the workaround procedures in this document, you can still print from a software program. You can also import and view images on a memory card, if your product has a memory card slot.Install the product driver
NOTE: The computer must be connected to the Internet for Windows Update to detect and install your product. When your new computer or operating system is up and running, connect the USB cable from the computer to the back of the HP product, and then press the Power button (c01602202.gif ) to turn it on. If the window displays and does not close automatically, click Close (c01881082.gif ), to close the window. Refer to the link below for work around procedures.

OK, I'll throw my hat in the ring, for what it's worth. This problem with a DeskJet 5440 has been bugging me for months, none of the published solutions worked. The only way I got rid of it in the end was by going into Add/remove Programs and ripping off every HP program related to the printer except the actual device driver. OK, you lose some functionality, but I (like most, I suspect) never used any of that 'window dressing' anyway.
