Question about IBM ThinkPad T30 2366 Notebook

1 Answer

IBM T30 2366 won't operate on battery

This TP operates on AC adaper but shutsdown when removed. I have tried other good batteries but results is the same. Not a battery problem. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks Matt Simmons

First check to see if the battery terminals are clean--and the contacts inside the battery enclosure are clean, also.
If the contacts are clean and working, I'm afraid we have bad news--this would be the motherboard on the computer--as that is where the charging circuit is.

I reinstalled XP on IBM T41, now battery won't charge. Could this be Driver Problem

Sounds like you need a new battery.
It's not just a battery in a case, it also has a small circuit board inside to control the charging etc, if that's faulty it won't charge, or if it has dead cells in it won't charge.

Hello my question? can i operate my IBM r52 thinkpad with out a battery? because the battery will not charge and the thinkpad will not operate with the power cable?

Hi,
Remove the battery and connect the laptop with the charger and it should operate normally. However, in the absence of battery you won't be able to get backup.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

Netbook is dead, won't operate on AC power,is the adaptor dead?

A good chance the ac is bad, try getting another one, the battery may be bad as well, or the charging port on the computer may be bad as well.

Hi.

Take out the AC power jack and then remove the laptop battery. Plug AC power back in and see if the laptop will turn on. If it turns on let it boot the operating system and then shut down as normal, remove the power cord and reinsert the battery and again see if it will switch on. If it does then there has been a glitch with the battery. If it doesn't then there is a problem with the battery.

If the laptop won't switch on either with or without the battery then there is a possibility that the motherboard has developed a problem.

Good luck.

Hi, I have a 1.5 yr old gateway NV52 laptop that has stayed in sleep mode for two days...I've tried turning it off and cutting back on but it is still in sleep mode...please help

Hi aiomason.

Remove the AC cord and the battery from the notebook. Re-attach battery and AC cord and power up the notebook. This will clear the Ram memory and force the operating system to "Cold Boot", in other words start the operating system loading up from the beginning instead of resuming from Ram the last time it was active. This proceedure should restore your Gateway Notebook to normal operation. Post back your results and good luck.

I keep the ac adaper in but the charger doesnt

you can see the problem if the battery in not charging or not loading some current. you can do this by unplugging the adapter on the outlet. if the unit turned off then the battery is defective. replace it. now if the problem is the adapter, you can see by removing the battery then plug the adapter to the unit and in the outlet. if the unit didn't turn on, the the adapter is defective. replace it.

T23 IBM will not operate on battery power & won't charge battery.

The battery has likely been charged one too many times and will no longer hold a charge. Buy a new battery.

It's not necessarily hardware related, can you boot into Bios? If you can try to boot info safe mode, that's F8 for most PCs. I would suspect something with your motherboard drivers, then again it could just be your battery. Not all laptops will operate with the battery out, there is some kind of failsafe to prevent overheating in some, because without a battery the power supply can be fried sometimes.

Hope this helps
