Start wit ha power reset, remove the battery, remove the ac adapter, hold the power button for 1 minute and then repalce the battery and ac adapter, if theres no go try it with just the ac adapter, sometimes the batteries short out. if all else fails its probably the mmobo and i suggest calling compaq for warranty support

Compaq Presario V2000 will not boot.

Remove the battery and just leave it off the computer, then plug in the power cord and try it. If it works with no battery...the battery is completely dead and you need to replace.

Power light is off when plugged into wall-power (and battery removed). Power adapter by itself is working

It is normal for the power light to be off if the battery is removed. Are you able to use the computer at all?

The last time I used my Compaq Presario v2000 I had it on battery power. The battery died and now that I am trying to use it I have the power adapter plugged into it and I get nothing when I hit the power...

This problem is either due to your power adapter, wall plug or the back of your lap top where the power adapter goes into. My guess would be the power adapter, they are infamous for going bad. Try wiggling the cord that connects to the power brick (black box) from your lap top.

Compaq Presario V2000 won't power up!

you may, and i say MAY have accidentally dislodged the battery, remove it competely and reseat it.

unplug the power unet and reinsert all its cables to make sure nothing it loose.

try starting the laptop with battery removed but mains power plugged in.. (if this works : you got a faulty battery...aftermarket HP part suppliers or HP on the net..

anything else is serious and then i pray you got a warranty or insurance....

Computer will not start

Disconnect battery and unplug from power, test for voltage on power cord and re-insert, hold down power switch. If nothing try battery without power cord. Still nothing (no lights, no sounds) then it may need system board replacing.
