Re: lcd screen broken on Olympus Stylus 700. what should...
Sadly there is no "cheap" solution. These cameras are built en mass and repairing them is most times more expensive than teh entire camera. the screens are very fragile and very expensive to by, so the bad news is that it may be cheaper to buy a new camera than to have yours fixed. (crazy isnt it)
Still, if you are intent on fixing it, you can call your local electronics dealer and ask who looks after warentee items for them (not that it will be fixed under warentee) but it will give you the name of the company that fixes electronics locally. Just make sure you get an estimate prior to handing over the camera as they will charge a minimum $65 just for looking at it!

You need to check whether the LCD screen is damaged or not. The best way to do this is shoot a picture, and then down load to PC. Check whether the picture is ok or not. If the picture is ok, then LCD is bad. You need to replace your LCD.
If you wan tto do it yourself, the following are some sites for help: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/11/fixing-or-replacing-broken-lcd-screen.html Buy a used camera (one sold for parts) through ebay.com very cheap. Buy a jewellers screwdriver set for $1 from Dollar store. Then replace the LCD.
Unfortunately I would be pretty sure that the warranty wouldnt cover the cost of your screen as it would come under misuse... ie: you broke it dropped it caught it damaged it ?. and not covered under electronic breakdown or fair wear and tear , however dont despair a replacement screen is not that much and fitting it is relatively simple with the right tools and a steady hand and good eyesight ..Cost of a replacement is available on the Olympus website .. however if the screen just stopped working and you didn't break it then yes it would be covered under warranty .. Sounds like your camera was dropped and the LCD was damaged. The white screen you see is typical for a defective LCD screen. The only way to repair the camera is to replace the bad part with a known good one.
One solution would be to buy a defective camera online that has a good LCD screen and swap them out.
wow! good luck...
I would say the manufacturer would be your best bet to order from. i don't know how LCD screens are but i do know that most camera parts are pretty touchy for being with their own counterparts.
I've tried camera repair, man it is intricate!
once again, GOOD LUCK
