One of the user in the company I work for is usign Quickbooks. The program will open but it will not open anything, the toolbar is grey out.

    I looked on the toolbar and I don't see an oval shape icon. I include a screen shot. Thanks for all your help

    Sorry, is QuickBook Pro 2005. The user mistyped the version. I went and double checked.

    please make sure the user is logged on inside of quickbooks and not
    just to the computer. please let me know if this is not the problem.

I, too, thought you were using 6.0 or would've jumped in sooner.

On the far right of the little-grey-bar-that-is-now-your-toolbar, there is an oval-shaped icon. Click on the left-end of that oval. Not kidding.

That oval is designed to 'minimize' your toolbar, but it is touchy so you have to hit the left end of it.

BTW, the toolbar is really just a window, so when you get it back, click the amber minus icon on the left end of it and you'll see that you can minimize it down to the dock too.

    Just wondering, tuqqer: Is the toolbar showing for one of your companies and not the other one?

    If
    you're actually using 5.0 as your version choice indicates (and not
    2005, which was two versions later), then the only way to toggle off a
    toolbar is by unchecking Show Command Buttons in the Configure
    [Company] Toolbar command (on the File menu). This command applies
    separately to every company file. Perhaps the toggling you're seeing is
    related to the other issue about which you posted (accidentally not
    using the latest version of a company's QB file).

I am having problems with my QuickBooks Pro 2001 program. It will not update and it will not recognize the drives for a restore.


We would need to know the actual error message it is giving. Sometimes you are dealing with damaged installs, and running Reboot.bat from the program folder will fix it.

After updating the program, the server computer does not allow access to programs. Error messages come up -6150 and-1006. the file directory list every file 3 times, with no access from file directory...


Looks like it can be caused by:
QuickBooks cannot read the company file because the QuickBooks file extension was changed or is the wrong type (.qbm, .qbb, .qbx).

This error can also occur during conversion or creation of a backup or portable company file if QuickBooks detects data damage in the company file.

This error may possibly occur if the QuickBooks installation is damaged.

This error can also be caused by attempting to open the portable company file (.qbm) without having QuickBooks open.

You can convert the file to a .qbw which is a quickbooks working file

I am getting error codes 6129,0 and 6073, 816 on my quickbooks 2008. What can I do to open the company?


This error can occur when:
  • Data is converted or restored over a network.
  • Several computers are acting as host for the QuickBooks data file.
  • QuickBooks is unable to communicate with the server.
  • There is data damage in your company file.

If the error occurred when you were restoring a company file from a backup or updating a company file to a newer version of QuickBooks over a network:
  1. Copy the backup file (.qbb file extension) or the company file you want to update (.qbw file extension) to a local hard drive.
  2. Restore the backup or update the company file.
  3. Copy the restored or updated company file back to its original location.

If the error occurred when you were trying to open and use a company file:
  1. Update QuickBooks to the most current release on all computers that open the company file.
  2. Close QuickBooks on all the computers with access to this company file.
  3. On the computer you select to host the company file, switch to single-user mode, and then back to multi-user mode:
    1. Open QuickBooks and open the company file.
    2. Choose File > Switch to Single-user Mode.
    3. Choose File > Utilities > Stop Hosting Multi-User Access.
    4. Choose File > Switch to Multi-user Mode.
    5. Choose File > Close Company to close the company file.
  4. On all other computers that will use the company file, stop hosting multi-user access :
    1. Press and hold Ctrl while you open the QuickBooks program and continue pressing Ctrl until QuickBooks opens completely. This opens QuickBooks without opening a company file.
    2. Choose File > Utilities >Stop Hosting Multi-User Access. If that option doesn't appear, the computer is not hosting and no further action is necessary.
    3. Repeat steps 4.a and 4.b for each computer other than the host computer.
  5. Configure the QuickBooks server for multi-user access:
    1. Click the Windows Start button and choose All Programs > QuickBooks > QuickBooks Database Server Manager.
    2. Click the Scan Folders tab.
    3. Click the Add Folder button, select the folder that contains your QuickBooks company file, and click OK. Repeat this step if necessary to add additional company file folders.
    4. Click the Scan button to begin scanning. After the scan is finished, the company files in the scanned folders are configured for multi-user access.
  6. Open the company file in QuickBooks. If you receive the same error message, refer to Settings required for firewalls to make sure your firewall is properly configured to allow QuickBooks access to your company file.
  7. Open the company file in QuickBooks. If you receive the same error message, open a different company file or a sample company file located in one of the folders you scanned with the Database Server Manager.
    • If no company file will open, reboot the host computer and try again.
    • If other company files open without error, the company file generating the error message may be damaged. For more information refer to Verifying and rebuilding QuickBooks company data.

Printer suddenly stopped working with quickbooks but will still work with all other programs. window states: change port assignments or reinstall software. printer is hooked up wirelessly


Hi there,

  1. Open the QuickBooks sample company and try to print the same form or type of form. If it prints successfully, your company data, form template, or customized report may be damaged.
  2. Reopen your company file and try to print an uncustomized (standard/default) form template or non-memorized report. If the issue occurs again, refer to Verifying and rebuilding the QuickBooks company data and then attempt to print again.
  3. If you were printing a batch of forms in QuickBooks, attempt to print a single form. If successful, try printing smaller batches.
  4. If you were able to print from QuickBooks in the past from this company file:
  5. Turn off the printer, restart your computer, and then turn the printer back on.
  6. In QuickBooks, choose File > Printer Setup and check the printer settings for the specific form you're trying to print.
  7. Click Help in this area for more detailed instructions on these settings.
  8. Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers for your printer. Go to the manufacturer's website to download and install the most current drivers.
  9. Replace the QuickBooks Qbprint.qbp file:
  10. Close QuickBooks.
  11. Rename the qbprint.qbp file.
  12. Open QuickBooks and attempt to print again.
  13. If the issue persists, repair the QuickBooks installation.

Why is this happening This issue can occur as a result of uninstalling the Google Desktop installed by Quickbooks on a computer running Microsoft Windows Vista. Launching QuickBooks after uninstalling Google will cause the error message.




Note: This issue is also known to occur with computers that have been upgraded from Windows XP to Windows Vista, where Google Desktop was uninstalled under Windows XP. Both cases would yield the same error message.
How to fix the problem This issue was resolved in the latest release for your version of QuickBooks.
Detailed Instructions Please update your program to the most current release.

Quick books error code(-6010, -100 ) Occasionally I will not be able to access my Quickbooks file. I receive error code -6010,-100. Rebooting the computer solves the problem, but this is not an acceptable...


Solution 1: For a standalone PC install of QuickBooks
  1. Choose File > Utilities > Stop Hosting Multi-User Access.
  2. Close and reopen QuickBooks. QuickBooks should now open without error.

Solution 2: Rename the .nd file associated with the company data file:
  1. Search the computer for files with extension .nd (Example: *.nd).
  2. Locate the .nd files with the name of the company having trouble opening.
  3. Right-click the .nd file, click rename and type old at the end ( for example, company.nd would become company .nd.old).
  4. Open QuickBooks.

Solution 3: If you are running NOD32 Antivirus Software with Internet Monitor (IMON)
  1. On the computer where the QuickBooks data is stored, find the NOD32 program.
  2. Disable IMON functionality.
  3. Reboot the computer.

Can't open more than one company at a time


Neither of these programs should EVER allow more than one company file to open at time. Each Company file operates as a seperate database.
