I've successfully installed the DVD's provided with this product but I was wondering if there is an Instuction Manual/How To for using the product? The "Help" section is vague. Any manuals out there??

Hi! Let's see if I can give you step-by-step instructions as best I can for this product.

1. First off, you're going to need to install the driver for this product, it seems. Drivers are the software that let the cable interact with your computer and oftentimes provide the program needed. You should be able to find that here, assuming you are running XP:

http://www.avermedia-usa.com/AVerTV/Support/DownloadCount.aspx?FDFId=1037

2. Second, your cable should have come with software installation CDs: One should be labeled CyberLink Power Director 5.0 DE and that is the one you want. The other one will work if you can't find the one I specified, but I suggest the first one as it is a newer version of the product. Put that into your CD tray and follow the on-screen prompts (It should automatically pop up and help you install the software.)

3. Connect the cable to your computer, and to the "out" or "output" red, white and yellow cables on your tv, vcr, or the device you're going to get images from.

4. Open your Start Menu at the bottom left of your computer screen and look for the menu "All Programs >" which will be at the bottom left, or "Programs" which will be up a little bit. Hover your mouse cursor over that and look for the CyberLink or Cyberlink Power Director menu on the list that pops up. Run the software from there. I am not familiar with this software so you may have to read any instruction manuals that came with your product.

5. When the software is ready to record, you should be able to just play whatever you are recording to your computer and you should be good to go!

Hopefully that helped. If it did please rate my solution appropriately. Thanks!

Where on my dell inspiron/1200 do i insert sandisk

Do you mean an 8GB SanDisk USB flash drive (thumb drive) or memory card (SD card or another type) or another SanDisk product?

If you have a flash drive, plug it into one of the 3 USB ports on the back of the laptop. If you have other devices plugged in, you may need a USB hub to add ports. (Note: hubs can fail; try a direct connection if the unit doesn't communicate.)

If you are using a memory card, you need to add a memory card reader. USB card readers are available from many shops; they will be cheaper from some online vendors compared to the big box electronics stores. Get one that supports the format of your memory card. There may be PC card slot card readers but I'm not aware of any specific models. The Inspiron/1200 supports Type I or Type II CardBus devices; 16-bit PCMCIA cards are also supported.

If you have a different item, please add a comment giving more informatiion on which SanDisk product you are connecting to the computer. I hope this helps.

Old cards don't fit new computers

Here is the description of the card :

FlashPoint 3Dx Lite is available in either AGP 2x or PCI formats. It has 3 video inputs and 1 I/O and flash sync trigger, and is fully compatible with entire line of FlashPoint 3Dx products....

If its AGP 2x of course it will not work and ametehan is right in asking if its Vista because a lot of manufacturer didn't make the drivers for all of there cards.

Capture device not recognized

Hi there,

this problem can be caused by many different things, I would recommend you try the following:

1, I would first uninstall the software and drivers for the stick and then clean the computers registry using a program such as the free for 30 days tune up utilities available from http://www.tune-up.com/products/tuneup-utilities/

2, Download the latest drivers from AverMedias website instead of using the ones provided on the CD

3, Make sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card, updates are available from the graphics card manufacturer.

4, Try the stick in a different USB port

5, Defrag your harddrive

If after all this the stick does not work I would return it to the manufacturer and ask for a replacement to rule out that it is the stick and not your computer

IEEE 1394 adapter not recognized

Greetings,
Assuming you have a new laptop (based on having vista) your laptop is most likely equipped with an express card slot instead of the older standard. Here is a link to illustrate what I am talking about:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16839147002
Note that it is a different shape than the card you purchased from Best buy. Hope that helped.
Take Care,
