Question about Dell Inspiron 6000 Notebook

We have an Inspirion 6000 with this problem and we've discovered if you pull the power cord out very slightly and lift it upwards, the charging icon appears in the system tray.

My friend has a latitude d600 that has the power port messed up in the back of the computer. i got him this thing, some people call it a docking station some people call it a port replicator, but you dock the computer to it and then you plug your power into the docking station and it charges it that way. you get extra usb ports and stuff like that and there is no repair involved. i dont know if you would want to try something like that maybe.

Dell inspirion 6000 is showing "loading PBR2.....done. NTLDR IS MISSING.HOW TO FIX

Use the Restoration Disk. When asked choose Repair.
(Non-Destructive Installation)

You are missing basic Windows files. Boot loader files.
Also you may have to prepare to replace the harddrive. May have bad Sectors on it.
Means I would copy off all personal information, after getting that laptop going again, or you may lose it.

Can't turn on my mini netbook inspirion - help

When you plug in the power cord is there any lightswhatsoever on the laptop, where the plug goes in or on the AC Adapter of thepower cord?

When you press the power button do you hear fans running, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lights constantly blinking, hear theDvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer of the DvD/CD turn on for asecond or two? If so the laptop is trying to boot or may have booted, butthe screen is not showing for some reason.

Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with thelaptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issuewhen you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous.

Maybe your power cord is bad if you don't get anything to happen whatsoeverwhen you press the power button. And if that's true maybe you wasoperating off the battery the last time you had it on and since the power cordis bad, it was not charging the battery so the battery is drained and the powercord is bad.

Maybe you have a Static Charge Buildup. Remove the Power Cord, Remove theBattery, then Press and Hold the power button for 30seconds. After 30 seconds plug the power cord back in (leave the batteryout) and hit the power button to see if it boots. If it does, you can putthe battery back in and let it charge.Maybe your DC Power Jack which is where the power cord plugsinto the computer is bad. Take an ink pen and push the tip inside thejack and see if the little pin wiggles, if so the jack is bad. You'll have totake the laptop apart to fix it. Most times it is soldered onto themotherboard, so you will have to desolder the old and solder a new one.

I installed a new 12-cell battery yesterday and can't get the lap top to power up today. There is a slight flicker of blue light on the charging icon (thinderbolt) when I hit the on button.

try unplugging the battery and starting up with just the cord if that works charge the battery for 16 hours for a initial charge if after the 16 hour charge it does not work call the company because you have a bad battery

I have a Laptop, Dell Inspirion 9100. Recently it

I would suggest testing your laptop with another adapter, first. Then you'll know whether to replace the adapter, which is priced around $50.

Flashing battery icon

The machine is telling you the battery is not charging or is otherwise no good.

The battery for this unit is subject to a recall, if it has part #OU091 or W1435. This recall started in October 08. Go to:

http://www.dellbatteryprogram.com/

for more info.

Alternatively, bring your power supply to a Radio Shack, and make sure it is putting out the requisite 19V DC power.

Battery charging port issue

This sounds like a connection issue inside the computer. What this means is that the soldering inside your computer at the point of connection is probably weakened, and you will need to take your computer in for repair if you are not very good at soldering. Unless you are VERY talented at soldering, I do not suggest doing this repair yourself as you can damage or ruin your computer.

Alternatively, there may be a loose pin or something of the sort at the point where you plug your adaptor in. Again, this is something that needs to be looked at by a professional.

Dell inspirion 6000 battery/charging problem

Also, check to make sure that you have a good connection between the laptop and the charging cable at the power port on the rear of the laptop. We have an Inspirion 6000 with this problem and we've discovered if you pull the power cord out very slightly and lift it upwards, the charging icon appears in the system tray. Appears to be a fractured connection inside the laptop at the power port. Changing chargers does not make any difference.
