Question about Nexus Prolong:Extra Cooling after PC shut down

1 Answer

Random shut down

My acer aspire 3000 keeps shutting down randomly. i've restored my computer after deleting files that i shouldnt have. then when booting up, the "acer" screen comes up and it offers the "setup" option, but when i hit f2, nothing happens. after several re-boots, i've selected the default configuration, and when i open more than one web page, it shuts down. i've burned a bunch of files to cd and deleted them to expand my hard drive memory. i'm constantly deleting temporary internet files and cookies to increase virtual memory, but it doesnt work. please help me! i dont know what else to do! thank you!

i tried updating my mcaffee anti virus, and it didnt work. how do i check the psu voltage output? the fans are all spinning on boot up, and i've blown all the dust out of the system, is there something i can detach to clean it out?

i'm not exactly sure what the atx connector or the dmm is, but when i hit control/alt/del, it shows that my cpu usage is around 5%, when i have a web page open. i do not get a blue screen before it shuts down, but often the "acer" screen shows up that asks "press f2 for setup" and it stays there, requiring me to hit the power button and try to boot up again, and after 2 or 3 times, it finally boots up, but then it shuts down after about an hour. depending on what i'm doing (checking e mail, playing games, etc.)

    * Have you cleaned all the excess dust out of the system?

    * Have you checked the PSU voltage output values?

    * Are all fans connected and spinning up on POST (boot up)?

    * Have you considered backing up your necessary files & reinstalling windows?

Do you have a anti virus? If you have better scan your comp and check for viruses!

The PSU voltages can be checked with a digital multimeter at the ATX connector, 3.3v (orange), 5.0v (red) & 12v (yellow) if the DMM is indicating values of MORE than 5% variation your PSU is the likely villain (best to rule it out first).

Are you getting a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) or error messages when you PC randomly shuts down?

How can i tell if the fan on my vaio CS31S isnt working properly? It seems to speed up and down and the laptop shuts down? Is it te fan or could there be another reason for this shutdown? :-)

Try blowing out any dust from around the fan with compressed air. If the fan is turning on and off a lot, this could be normal, depending on your processor, but if the system just shuts down fully and randomly, it would be a heat issue. The CPU is overheating and the failsafe mechanism is to instantly shut your computer down. The only way to avoid this is to raise the CPU shutdown temp in the BIOS settings, or if you can access the CPU, remove it and apply new, quality thermal grease. Also, ensure the fan is operating correctly during use and dont block any air intake or exhaust ports.

COMPUTER FROZE UP AND SHUT DOWN...HOW DO I RESTORE SERVICE ??

Fist clean your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor specifically around your central processing unit making sure there is no moisture in the air line
as dust will cause a lot of static which will make a computer overheat and cause lots of problems
then test your power supply unit PSU
try replacing all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your motherboard to hard drive one bad lead will cause a computer to shut down
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they are probably old and faulty ?
then you have a dirty hard drive give?the hard drive?a firm tap on one side to free up the read arm
then click start?run type?cmd then type?chkdsk/f which will automatically fix any corrupt files on your hard drive then defragment your hard drive
you have to keep?a computer very clean & free of dust ?and? give it regular?maintanance
?
good luck with this

My IBM T22 LAPTOP cooling fan does not work . When I start LAPTOP SYSTEM START BUT FAN NOT RUN. I dont know whether it its problem or not.

If the fan is not running, your computer will definately have a problem very soon. Sometimes, the fan is just clogged up by dust and debris. Head down to a local computer store or one of the box stores and purchase some compressed air dusters.
Dust out the fan and vents as best you can. If the fan still does not spin, your computer will easily overheat and, in all probablilty, shut down on you at random.
If left for too long, this could cause multiple other problems for your computer. I would recommend you look at getting the fan replaced as soon as possible if you cannot get it to work by dusting it out.
Good Luck!

My Acer Aspire 5000 is overheating and shutting down but the fan seems to be working. Besides telling me to take it to a computer repair shop, any suggestions?

If you put your hand up to the exhaust port of the fan you should feel a lot of air blowing, if not you need to clean off the part of the heatsink that the fan blows into, its blocked by dust.

E-machine computer will not shut down

your files might have been corrupted i know the end close screen file sometimes and will get corrupted quicker than startup screen
now the question is was this the floor model or a straight out of the box unopened comp cause floor models always needs to be reformated those are the show comps. people play with those all day once you reform. comp. and put in new O.s. system everything should come back to working perfectly and dont forget spyware checkers and virus blockers name branded backed up these will help protect your comp

simple other solution might be you just need to upgrade your system files threw windows update

Lenovo laptop shutdown suddenly after working for a while

Hi James, replace the fan or If it's still under warranty have it serviced. Suggest you stop turning it on until the fan is replaced. It could be the fan cooling the CPU. You don't want it to fry.
The shut down process is normal when over heating is detected by the system.
